I wanted to support a local business that’s just a few miles from my home, however, my recent experience at Zukovich's was incredibly disappointing and frustrating.

I visited this weekend to redeem two Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers for my elderly parents. My father, who cares for my terminally ill mother, asked me to pick up some fresh produce for them. When I asked a staff member if jams and jellies were eligible, she responded with a dismissive and rude tone, telling me that I should have read the voucher myself. While I understood her point, the attitude was uncalled for, especially considering the circumstances.

Things escalated at checkout. The same woman accused me of forging the vouchers, questioning their legitimacy and demanding to know where I obtained them. My mother’s signature is stamped due to her condition, which was met with suspicion instead of understanding. I explained the situation, hoping for a bit of compassion, and suddenly her tone changed.

It was disheartening to encounter such a lack of empathy and professionalism. I believe that businesses serving the community, especially those with programs for seniors and the disabled, need to foster a more supportive environment.

Given this experience, I will be taking my support to other local farmers who value their customers and their stories. I hope Zukovich's can reflect on their approach to customer service, especially for those who may be dealing with challenging personal circumstances.

Great place to go get produce and other farmers market type stuff... Another thing is a great place for lunch... The food was all great and way better than any fast food place around. And it was very affordable and worth every cent...

Go get some fruit and veggies and other healthy yummy things for your home and then after that work out grab some lunch to regain energy to continue your day.... You will thank me... So your welcome
