Leon is the best! I’ve spent so much money on plants over the years only to have them die because I was not counseled on how to buy plants for my space and how to care for them. Plus, many nursery plants are already unhealthy. Not so at Xotx-Trópico. The selection is great and Leon has helped me buy numerous plants based on our needs and given instructions on light and watering. As a result, we have a home full of beautiful and happy plants. In addition, prices are good compared to others. Thank you Leon. It is awesome to know someone so passionate about plants. I will literally drive out of my way to visit your store!

Very knowledgeable and helpful gentleman who appeared to be owner was pleasant and friendly but often spoke over me. Interior is quite small but there is a large outdoor area in the back with numerous plants. The admittedly limited plants I saw did not all look their healthiest or most beautiful, but I am not a botanist nor is my thumb that green. Seemed like store specialized in rare and exotic plants.

Came here back in May, was just walking down the street and stumbled upon it and wanted to go inside. The Man who runs this place is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. He let me explore the back area at my own pace and I ended up leaving with a Pink Perfection Syngonium. Now, in October she's doing splendidly and will need to be repoted soon.

I really want to give them a good review, but with some thought and going to another nursery 5 miles away, I feel like I have to let other people know what my thoughts are. Here are the positives first.Pretty great selection, most of the plants are happy, few struggle bus but they’re plants, all organic/no pesticides used. Now, as for why I’m never coming back, it is extremely over priced- don’t trust stores that don’t have prices on the pots (one I got was marked 4.99 and he charged me 10 or 20, didn’t receive an itemized receipt, charging more than the marked price is not legal in California) and the gentleman that helped me (seems like the owner) is incredibly bitter and insecure. He complained the whole time about how people just by more economically priced plants online and they’re impatient and just want everything right away (driving to a store is more instant than waiting for shipping…..). Also complained about how people don’t call plants their scientific names and how stupid the common names are…. I’m not interested in spending money to be in a negative environment. I was also told it is rude to say I already have a plant….. like people aren’t allowed to own plants before they go to the store? I don’t understand how it’s ā€œoffensiveā€ to say you already have a plant and don’t want to buy a duplicate because he has ā€œspent his whole life learning all this info from books, traveling and collecting plants from everywhereā€ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦. People buy stuff online and cheaper because paying the ā€œpet storeā€ or ā€œexotic plant storeā€ markup. If you want rare plants, verdant in has a bunch and they are also organic grown…. And the people working are happy to be there.

This place is the absolute best. The variety is unlike anything you’ll find in the entire city, they must have thousands of plant species there it’s a freaking museum. The owners are easily the most knowledgeable plant people I’ve ever met in my life. And they’re not in it for the hustle, they are ridiculously passionate about plants. I am always proud to bring friends here and show off the spot, and someone always find something they want to purchase!! The variety is so vast, and so rare, every time I come, I see things I’ve never even heard of. 11/10 store. Lastly, I’ll include a picture of a variegated syngonium that I purchased almost a year ago. One of the owners literally traveled to the jungles of Brazil and brought a seed back through US customs to grow the plant from scratch here. He sold me a cutting and about five leaves later, I have an ALL white variegated syngonium leaf 100% variegated, ZERO green. very rare and extremely special to me <3 thanks again xotx!!!!!

Excellent little shop. I came here on a whim looking for an alocasia, a specific one. The shopkeeper was so helpful and knowledgeable about the plants, you can tell he really cared about the homes they would go to. This has to be one of my favorite indoor plant shops I've come across yet.

This is such a gem of a shop for rare and unusual plants. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and happy to chat plants and plant care. He has some beautiful, unusual plants for decent prices. There were a number of pests on the plant we purchased, but it was overall super healthy and after a few rounds of insecticidal soap, it’s good to go and looking fantastic!
