Wood Fruitticher Grocery Co., Inc.: A Comprehensive Overview

Wood Fruitticher Grocery Co., Inc. stands as a notable entity within the food distribution landscape, particularly serving the Birmingham metropolitan area. Operating primarily as a food products supplier, the company caters to a diverse clientele, likely encompassing retailers, restaurants, and potentially wholesale buyers seeking reliable sourcing for their needs. Their headquarters and primary operational base are situated at 2900 Alton Road in Birmingham, Alabama, USA (35210), placing them strategically within a key commercial hub.

Core Business and Specialties

The core business of Wood Fruitticher revolves around being a dedicated supplier of food products. While specific product lines are not exhaustively detailed in the provided information, their role as a supplier suggests they handle the logistics and distribution of various goods. This likely includes staples, packaged foods, potentially fresh or frozen items, and niche products depending on client demands. Their specialization positions them as a vital link between manufacturers and end-users within the food supply chain.

Facilities and Accessibility

Located at 2900 Alton Rd, the Wood Fruitticher facility is designed with operational efficiency in mind. Key features include a wheelchair-accessible car park and wheelchair-accessible entrance, demonstrating a commitment to accessibility for all visitors and staff. These features are crucial for ensuring that deliveries can be made conveniently and safely, as well as accommodating customers or vendors who require accessibility accommodations. Beyond accessibility, the site likely houses the necessary storage, processing areas (given mentions of frozen check-in), and administrative functions to support their wholesale operations.

Operational details gleaned from customer feedback provide further insight. The frozen check-in facility, operational at least as early as 4:00 AM, suggests handling temperature-sensitive goods. Security personnel are present and noted for being 'nice', adding a layer of professionalism and safety to the premises. A door access mechanism, requiring interaction possibly at a guard shack, indicates controlled access for security reasons. The presence of vending machines offering drinks and food near the entrance caters to immediate needs for visitors or staff. Furthermore, feedback highlights bathrooms cleaned with bleach, signifying a focus on sanitation and hygiene standards, essential for a food-related business.

Customer Service and Experience

Customer interactions and reviews offer a tangible perspective on the operational experience. While some reviews mention the need for appointment-based unloading, indicating a potentially customized service approach for deliveries, others note the 'tight' door access, suggesting physical challenges that require careful planning when entering the premises. The lack of overnight parking, coupled with a mention of 'a few spots close,' implies that the facility may not be ideally suited for drivers needing extended parking, possibly due to operational constraints or space limitations. These points, while challenges, are part of the operational reality of a large distribution center and warrant consideration by potential clients.

Reputation and Reach

Wood Fruitticher maintains a presence on Google My Business, evidenced by 271 reviews received. This online presence allows customers to share their experiences and seek information. The average rating of 2.9 out of 5 stars, while not exceptionally high, reflects the aggregate feedback from these reviews. It suggests that while the company offers essential services, there are recurring aspects of the customer experience that may not consistently meet expectations. Common themes in the reviews point towards practical operational challenges like access, parking availability, and the requirement for appointments, which prospective clients evaluating suppliers would naturally consider when assessing service levels and logistical compatibility.

Practical Information for Potential Clients

For businesses seeking a food products supplier in the Birmingham area, Wood Fruitticher Grocery Co., Inc. presents a viable option. Their primary contact number, 205-836-9663, facilitates direct communication regarding product inquiries, delivery schedules, and service details. Prospective clients should be prepared for a professional interaction, possibly involving appointment scheduling for deliveries or specific discussions. The accessibility features are well-documented, ensuring ease of visitation for those requiring accommodations. Payment methods accepted include debit and credit cards, indicating standard transaction capabilities. However, the practical advice derived from customer feedback is essential: plan deliveries carefully considering the access points and potentially early operational hours, be aware of parking constraints if overnight stays are needed, and understand that interactions, particularly for unloading, may be subject to specific arrangements and procedures.

Wood Fruitticher Grocery Co., Inc. appears to be a functional and established player in the regional food supply sector, offering necessary goods and services with a focus on distribution. Their infrastructure and stated features support wholesale operations, but potential partners should leverage available reviews and direct communication to fully understand the service model and operational nuances before establishing significant business relationships.

The people are nice and I got a dock before 4am.... it's now 9:41am I have been in the dock for going on 6 hours.... everyone is very nice but one person said they were short handed.... I'm not mad and pray I can make it to Huntsville AL to pu my load, I have people at home depending on my job and it's important to do a good job... I pray they will hire more people to help us truckers get to our next appointment. We don't make big money and work non stop for our family's.... I give 1 Star because I have been in the dock for 6 hours...A+ for the kindness of the staff.

Came in about 7am for a 6:30 am appt on Friday. Got door right away, lumper fee request by 7:00, paperwork ready at 7:20

Had two trucks in before me and about 10 docked when I left. Maybe I got lucky with a calm day but it went smoothly for me.

5 hours to unload, receiving staff very rude. I don’t recommended this place if you have a reload waiting for you. Unloaders takes several brakes. They stay outside receiving office door smocking .

If you want to get a good nap in, this is the place to be. The receiving clerk is VERY rude, and the unload crew is VERY sorry. They take more smoke breaks hanging out on the steps than actual work. They care nothing about what you have to do or where you have to go next.
Whenever they decide to give you a green light you still have to wait a hour or more for paperwork. I’ve been here since 9AM it’s currently 13:10 and I’m still waiting to be released. Not to mention, my lumper fee was paid at 11:52 this morning. Once again they care nothing about you nor what you have to do next. So don’t expect to come here and be in and out…
