Wingate’s Cake Design made our wedding day absolutely magical and delicious! My husband and I were blown away by her creativity, kindness, and professionalism from start to finish. She was incredibly accommodating, listening closely to our vision while adding her artistic touch that made our cake truly one of a kind. Beyond her talent, Lauren was timely, responsive, and a true joy to work with. We loved her baked goods so much that we keep coming back for more whenever she has pop-ups. Her cakes are not only stunning but also absolutely scrumptious. We can’t recommend Wingate’s Cake Design enough—you won’t find a more talented or wonderful person to work with! A++++

I’m so insanely impressed and grateful and just over the moon for the cake Lauren (the owner of Wingate's cakes) made for us. It was literally my dream wedding cake! Back when we first got engaged I made a list of my top 3 wedding priorities and cake was one of them. And we went on a very serious hunt tasting cakes because I was adamant it needed to be both beautiful AND delicious (many wedding cakes I’ve have in the past we’re pretty but tasted like nothing). After looking at and speaking to about 15 different bakeries in the area, we felt so confident when we chose Lauren for our wedding. I am so amazed how she was able to hear hear all my crazy ideas and piece them together to literally make my dream wedding cake. On our wedding day, I cried when I finally saw it. It was literally exactly what I’ve always envisioned AND it tasted AMAZING!!!! We will 100% be visiting Newport again in the future for anniversaries, vacation, etc and will definitely be coming to her again for mini versions of our same cake. Every single guest at our wedding raved about our cake, both the style and the flavor. People were standing around it taking photos all night. I’m still in awe. We ate so much leftover cake the days after our wedding. I can’t say enough good things and I am so grateful to have found Lauren!!! The color of our cake matched our theme perfectly, the detail was so on point with our style and vibe, the flowers were so dreamy and vibrant, and the height was AMAZING in creating such a grand presentation for a cake that only needed to feed a relatively small crowd. People were saying it didn’t even look real, it was so perfect. Thank you times 10000000 Lauren. Our cake was such a huge part of my wedding vision and she executed it flawlessly and I can’t thank her enough!!!!!

I’ll start by saying I don’t love cake. It’s not really my thing. It’s not really my husbands fav either. But both of us tolerate carrot cake and it’s seasonal and rustic, which fit into the theme for our teeny tiny backyard wedding. Wingate’s is local for us and the owner/pastry chef is a JWU alumnus like me, so I rolled the dice and ordered one of their specialty party cakes, Honey Bourbon Carrot Cake, the large size. And crossed my fingers.
Oh My Goodness— best gamble ever! I can say from my own tastes and all of my guests reviews, this was legit THE BEST CARROT CAKE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Light, fluffy, textured, not too sweet, amazing frosting, elegant styling.... We had 12 people and I have one slice left in my freezer to eat next year. So while they say the large feeds 15 people, that’s not entirely true— because it’s so delicious that a couple people split a second piece, and THAT is a true complement.
Thanks to Wingate’s for making my wedding day more special because of their delicious confection! I will recommend them to EVERYONE.

Couldn't have asked for better! Booked Wingate's for our wedding & were so impressed with every aspect. The tasting was great, variety of flavors, we decided on a three tiered cake with two flavors, almond joy and carrot cake with buttercream frosting. Both flavors were delicious and were loved by our guests. I didnt really give Lauren any photos or design specifics, wasn't too picky. Just wanted something simple and with fresh flowers. She coordinated directly with our florist, Homegrown Blooms, and the delivery and set up was seamless! Cake was beautiful and delicious, coordination was stress-free, everything a bride could ask for and more!

I was more than satisfied and grateful for the cake Lauren made on our wedding day. First of all we had the hardest time deciding on a flavor/frosting bc they were all so delicious. We chose a 3 tier cake with 2 flavors, one was rosé all day, and the other was vanilla bean cake with creme Brule filling. The cake went so fast, everyone raved about it. She also garnished it with fresh flowers from our florist Red Velvet florist. I didn't take many pictures and didn't get my pictures from photographer yet, I only have the photos that other people took. But I would highly recommend her for a wedding cake or even a holiday cake or French macarons. I've tried it all! Everything Lauren makes is delightful:)

Flavor and texture was great, and what I asked for. However, the color was completely off. Several shades off. Not in my wedding color palette or anything like the ref. picture I gave. If it had been a different type of gathering I wouldn’t have cared as much. I still had a beautiful wedding/night, but was truly disappointed.

Everytime I have ever gotten any baked item from Wingate’s Cakes it’s been flawless! Lauren did my wedding cake and cupcakes and every step of the process was so easy. Everything tasted perfect and just as it did in our taste test. Since then I have also purchased a cake and multiple baked good! You can’t go wrong with Lauren and her team!
