I visited this urgent care for cold symptoms, and my experience was frustrating from start to finish. The front desk staff had a very negative attitude and was not welcoming at all. When I described my symptoms, the first thing she did was put on gloves before handing me paperwork—as if she wasn’t already working in a medical setting where sick patients are the norm. It felt rude and unnecessary.

Once I got to the back, the nurse (Cynthia Neal) was pleasant, which I appreciated. However, the PA (Jacob Clairmont) who saw me seemed rushed and dismissive. I asked for magic mouthwash, which my primary care physician had prescribed before and helped me tremendously. Instead of listening to me, the PA quickly brushed it off, saying, ā€œOh, you don’t need it,ā€ and simply handed me antibiotics for strep throat. I understand prescribing guidelines, but if a patient is in pain and requesting a treatment that has worked for them before, why dismiss them so quickly?

I wasn’t asking for a controlled substance—I just wanted something to ease my pain so swallowing wouldn’t feel like pins and needles. The lack of attentiveness and care made me feel like just another number to be rushed out the door.

I probably won’t be coming back here. If you want an urgent care that actually listens to patient concerns instead of rushing through the process, I’d recommend going elsewhere. I only gave it 2 stars because of the nurse (Cynthia Neal), she was very pleasant.

I would give them a zero star if possible. I went there on 06/18/2025 for a red eye and the practitioner there was in a big hurry, she didn’t even look at my eye, she just without any test said that I had pink eye and prescribed some eye drops. They charged my insurance and a co-pay from me $60. I went again today and I told the lady upfront of my eye issues and I requested to be seen by a doctor without paying again the $60 copay, since it was a very bad diagnosis, she was annoyed by my request and told me that the doctor who saw me was not an eye doctor, so I told her why did she see me and prescribed something for an area of medicine that she is not familiar with, I told her that they could have say so at the very first time I came in to ask to be seen. I am still suffering because of their negligence and poor customer service. I would recommend them at all. Patients Beware.

Customer Service is less than zero. My spouse had to be seen for sinus and congestion. He arrived at 12:10pm and was finally called.. been sitting in an exam room for over 30 minutes with no one checking or just courtesy to say the doctor will be delayed... ridiculous. I will certainly forward my concerns to the management office as this location is not living up to what UNC is know for. No empathy.. I wish he would have went to a regular clinic he would have been treated with empathy and concerns.

I have been visiting UNC Knightdale urgent care for years now and always with any of our kids both my wife and I had been present to discuss treatment for our children. The doctors as well as support staff have been great so far. This nurse today who was not wearing a badge, only allowed one of us (parents) saying this has always been the case and they have strictly been following it. I saw her here for the first time and she is lying straight in my face as I have been visiting this Urgent care for years with all my family members. I think UNC should train their staff better on how to help patients than allow them to create non sense rules on their own and be so rude and adamant about following them and to add to it lying. Long ago I moved away from REX hospitals except this one. I think they figured out how to annoy more patients away from here as well. How does presence of both parents change anything for the treatment except better support for the child. My wife cannot carry our sick child but she prefers to stay close to mum. Ridiculous ideologies of these mindless nurses. I wish they were trained better. Moreover, when I got a chance to speak to my wife she told that even though the doctor (PA) said my daughter had flu this nurse came and told my wife there was nothing wrong with our daughter. She said to just take her home. When my wife told her what the doctor had said she said ā€œ Oh maybe the wrong patientā€, took the papers from my wife’s hand and walks out of the room. I request UNC to address this with their staff especially those that just joined at this place and claim that unnecessary rules have always been followed, they should wear a badge all the time, and should not mix patients giving discharge notes to wrong patient, wrongly advising parents and so on.

Front desk staff is extremely rude and apathetic. They sit texting and scrolling on their phones and gossiping about the patients waiting in the lobby to be seen. I understand compassion fatigue but if you want to work in healthcare with PEOPLE you need to be a PEOPLE person

The staff is great… but the cost to have one child evaluated for strep and flu was over $900. I’m sorry but that is ridiculous. I was told that would have been the cash price as well but working in healthcare myself I know that is not true. Cash prices are often less than amounts billed to insurances but per contracts there is no way around billing my insurance. $460.73 is what I owe for a strep and flu test. Our healthcare system is so messed up.

This place is awful. Don’t ever go. They explicitly ignored the information I gave about my eating disorder and mentioned my weight MULTIPLE times and then called me obese. They promoted eating disorder behaviors to me as well. Front desk was extremely rude and made the experience worse. DONT GO HERE
