We visited without an appointment and were able to buy sea urchins from Santa Barbara. The sweetness may be a bit weaker than the Japanese Hokkaido variety, but it was rich and delicious. The lady who helped us was also very kind. Highly recommended!

Purchased top quality uni here. Best place to buy uni in bulk. Called them up and the lady was so nice and kind. Picked up my order 2 days later, took no more than 2 minutes.

Finding this place was god-send for a DIY sushi enthusiast like myself. Typically, you have to either mail order ingredients (eg: fish, uni) through online retailers, which can cost a pretty penny. The convenience though of having this near me is that I can drop in and ask for whatever I want!

Although I definitely recommend looking online at what is available / having an idea of what you need before walking up to the counter.

Has anyone been close enough to this company to hear Baby Shark playing over and over again. Loud on portable speakers that faces the street at the end of their property? This song plays in a loop form for twenty four hours a day. They're goal for this music is to deter any un sheltered people. So that they do not hang out on the public sidewalk adjacent to the company. This is extremely unprofessional and inhumane of trade winds. This is a second month that I've witnessed the annoying music playing while we go feed those in need. Trade winds, can you explain why baby shark plays twenty four hours a day on a loop

I visited Tradewinds on a recent vacation in Oxnard. I knew that the area is the uni capital of the world and I’m a big fan of uni. I was looking for a restaurant where I could get some local uni - this is not that. Instead this is the factory(?) where sushi restaurants from around the world buy their uni. You can just walk up to the side door of the factory and get wholesale premium uni. When I found Tradewinds I decided to have a “make your own sushi” night with friends. They also sell other sushi grade seafood. I got the otoro, tuna, salmon, and salmon roe. All way below what I would have paid at a specialty grocery but absolute top quality.

This is a great place for wholesale priced premium seafood ingredients.

As my wife is a sushi fanatic after seeing the Facebook documentary we were excited to try various items. We tried the tuna, uni and salmon sashimi, we ordered, the shipping process was smoothe and arrived on time. I would say the mi uni was about b grade uni, slight umami flavor but overall the food was well packaged and fresh. Only disclaimer as I feel it should go both ways is the upcharge for any non pick up item. For example the Santa Barbara 100g uni is $50 for local pickup; if you choose delivery the retail of the item goes up to $75. I reached out as I feel they should be more transparent. They do charge a $15 delivery fee within California; when reaching out he explained his reasoning as the cost of shipping is higher; but you should know that instead of charging the full shipping separately, they up charge on the actual cost of the item and separately charge a delivery fee. I’ve dealt with various e-commerce and online sushi vendors but depending on whether you choose ‘pickup’ or ‘delivery’ never changed the cost of the item, and only changed the shipping cost. Overall great quality seafood but should be a bit more transparent about their costs and their prices.
