Really excited about this place! Its’s an awesome option in a central location. Freshly made tortillas are delicious and I loved all the options. Definitely similar to Chipotle in a lot of ways like how it’s not an authentic taqueria — but in my mind this in a different category. I wish the meat was a little more flavorful but all very clean and quality ingredients!

This place was an absolute delight! I haven’t had chipotle-style food in ages because of the quality issues. So, I decided to give Tortilla Shack a try, and boy, was I impressed.

I ordered a burrito to eat in and a salad for Togo. The tortilla press was super cool, so if you get a chance while ordering, take a look at that process. The menu has something for everyone, so you’re sure to find something you love. I wish they had grilled fish options, though.

The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about everything they served. The onion habanero salsa was my absolute favorite. Usually habanero is too spicy for me, but this salsa was just right. The staff was able to explain each salsa behind the counter, which was great because I didn’t end up with too much heat.

Tortilla Shack is in a great location, and I’m definitely going to grab lunch there again soon.

Dang. We really wanted to like this place....
Hubby and I ordered online for pickup. The order was ready promptly, but that's the best thing we can say.
My burrito bowl was 95% cold, dry rice. I had ordered black beans and several of the salsa options, I received no beans at all, no salsa and about a tsp of the Mexican creama and corn. Completely without any flavor. $11
Hubby ordered the pastor pork shoulder burrito, specifying no beans. He got nothing but black beans and rice, no meat. $13.50.
Sadly disappointed.

I got a cheese quesadilla with the cheddar tortilla. Super good! it comes with sour cream, guacamole, and pico. Their chipotle salsa is really good.

On a whim I ordered a burrito via Grubhub. WOW was I pleasantly surprised with the quality of the burrito! All the ingredients tasted fresh and flavorful. Especially the tortillas you tell they were just cooked. Way better burrito than the local Chipotle. Anyway I’m excited to come back and try some different salsa and protein options. Hopefully this place takes off and is successful.

Food is fresh & delicious! Very generous portions. Kids loved it too. Lovely atmosphere and service with a smile. Modern & clean space. Look forward to seeing them add a little ambiance to the seating outside come summer. Great addition to the Soquel culinary scene.

Super happy this place opened since the local Chipotles are terrible quality.

Food was good and love the upgrades they've made to the build your own format (fresh made tortillas, fish, interesting salsas, etc).

My only criticism was the rice. It was both under and over cooked, and the grain was short so the texture felt more like cauliflower rice than white rice. It was also bland which could be easily solved.

One last request is for them to stock Taptillo and Tabasco. Feels like a simple upgrade that'd be easy to do.
