There are several businesses in the area that sell hay for horses; however, I have yet to find one in So. San Diego County that has as great a quality and variety of hay for the best prices as The Hay Co-Op, especially their Teff Hay! I used to grow hays and legumes, as well as other crops, decades ago on our 500-acre family farm in the midwest(my former life, LOL). That said, I appreciate knowing that I can get complete and accurate information when shopping for my horse. The owner/buyer of The Hay Co-Op, Kristi, is amazingly knowledgeable in the agricultural growth and nutritional aspects of growing and harvesting various grass hays and legumes, as well as their nutritional values, when it comes to feeding our horses. Thank you, Kristi and The Hay Co-Op, for providing the best quality long-stem forage for my horse. (Pictured is a row of Teff Hay from The Hay Co-Op, a portion of my larger hay order every winter).

I am extremely disappointed in the communication and follow through of the owner. I love the idea of what they are going by testing hay and knowing the quality of what they provide. I set up a delivery date and never heard back. Over a week later with lots of persistence on my part I finally heard back there had been a loss in the family. I completely understand that comes first and was told several times I would be contacted back to set up a deliver date. I never heard back. There are other people working there that should be picking up the slack if the owner is unable to work but neglecting simple follow up is very unprofessional. I keep buying the minimum amount of high nitrate hay hoping to hear back and routinely almost running out. I want nothing more than to be a forever customer of this company if they can actually deliver on their promise of providing hay tested, quality hay at decent prices but I have given them so many chances and clearly they don’t want my business.

We moved out here from Blythe so major sticker on hay, when you are use to paying $8.50 for 120lb. Bale of Alfalfa. It's not $8.50 but it is great quality hay, better prices then some of the hay I bought in Lakeside & Ramona

This is a membership Co-op with limited hours, but reliably provides quality hay at a distinct discount. Best for regular hay buyers in the Ramona area.
