This place is awesome! We are from out of town and this place had great reviews and an awesome menu so we checked it out. We got the lamb cheesesteak on naan, chicken shawarma over Greek salad with rice, and a beef and cheese pide.
Lamb cheesesteak falls in top five cheesesteaks I’ve ever had. Chicken shawarma wasn’t anything crazy but still good. The pide had good crust and was cheesey! And we cannot ignore the desserts. OMG. I’m going to have to go back for another. The manager was soooo nice and recommended this delicious chocolate dessert and WOAH. 10/10!!!!

Place is great and the mobile ordering made things so much easier. I only wish the chana masala was consistent. One day it’s spicy and thick the next it’s flavorless and watery. Please is great though and my families favorite place to eat in the burgh

I recently visited sales market and grill and was thoroughly impressed. The store's cleanliness and lighting were exceptional.
The prices were reasonable, and the customer service was outstanding. Our attendant was knowledgeable and friendly, even recommending the buffet.

As I've recently moved to Florida, I appreciate that I can place orders online with fast shipping.

Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Market - lot of selection of spices and decent halal meats. They also have lot of Middle eastern grocery items. Checkout ladies were pleasant.
Grill - grill and restaurant is next door. You order food through the touch screens and get a number assigned, they call when food is ready. I grabbed some hot bar grilled meats and in and out in less than 10mins with great tasting grilled meats.

Salem Market and Grill has deep roots in Pittsburgh, boasting a robust community base and a loyal customer following. Situated in a fantastic location, this restaurant has organically grown into a sizable establishment. However, recent experiences reveal areas that need attention.

While the community spirit remains strong, the overall cleanliness, including the restaurant and restrooms, needs improvement. During my recent visit, my shoes stuck to the floor, highlighting a cleanliness concern. The food, once vibrant and fresh, now lacks its former taste and appeal. Additionally, the speed of service has slowed down noticeably.

Being an old visitor, I have a deep affection for this place and its community vibe, but addressing these concerns is crucial to restoring its former glory. Let's hope Salem Market and Grill can reclaim its spirit by addressing these loopholes.

Extremely Disappointed – Salem’s Has Completely Fallen Off

I don’t normally leave reviews like this, but my experience today was so bad I felt compelled to say something. I used to love Salem’s Market & Grill. Years ago, when I lived nearby, it was one of my go-to spots. The food was solid, the prices were fair, and it always felt like a place I could count on, especially during Ramadan. Fast forward to today — I drove a long way out of my way because I heard they had a Ramadan buffet going on. Turns out, it ended on Sunday. No signs, no announcements, no updates — and I had even tried calling the store several times beforehand. No answer. Just nothing.

I figured, okay, I’m already here, I’ll just order like I used to. Big mistake. I got the large meal with biryani, lamb, butter chicken, chickpeas, and a drink. It came out to about $27, which is wild because I remember this exact kind of meal used to be $15 tops. Sure, prices go up — but if you’re going to charge nearly double, the food better be worth it. And this? This was straight-up awful.

The biryani was a mess — mushy, bland, and nothing like what you’d expect from a place that claims to serve authentic food. The lamb and butter chicken tasted old and reheated, like it had been sitting around for days. You could literally taste the staleness. The chickpeas were just sad. Everything had this leftover, cafeteria-tray vibe — not fresh, not flavorful, and honestly not safe. I hadn’t eaten anything else all day because I was fasting, and this was supposed to be my Iftar — instead, I ended up with stomach pain for the rest of the night. That’s not just disappointing, that’s unacceptable.

I couldn’t even finish my food. I thought I’d maybe pick at it later, but once I got home, I just threw it all out. It was that bad.

Salem’s used to be a great spot. Now? It feels like they’re coasting on their old reputation, cutting corners, and charging premium prices for subpar, leftover food. I don’t know what happened, but they’ve completely lost their touch — and my business.

My husband picked up dinner on his way home. He got Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Curry.

This was his first time going in a while so he was very impressed by the renovations and touch screen order system. He said it was quick and loved the fact that can could pay for our food right than and there.

Chicken Tikka Masala: very good but has some spice to it. The chicken was tender and the sauce was flavorful.

Lamb Curry: had some spice as well but very good. The Lamb was seasoned good and tender as well.

Garlic Naan: Huge and good. I can only imagine what it taste like hot and fresh.

Parking: Street parking was easy.

We would definitely order again.
