We drove to Rusty Spurr from Dillon, and it was 1000% worth the drive! We pulled in and it was starting to storm, so the owners welcomed us into a smaller building with a warm fireplace to sit out the weather. The property, the owners, the horses and the trail guide-we had Autumn- made the entire experience amazing, not to mention we could see Wyoming from the top of the property. Autumn was very engaging and spoke to all of us while riding, but was very attentive to her job and making sure we were all comfortable. We can’t wait to come back, and we all highly recommend Rusty Spurr!

Our 3 hour ride at Rusty Spur Ranch was awesome! Bailey was our wrangler and besides being extremely knowledgeable and experienced, she really helped my daughters (11 & 13) learn how to steer and ride better throughout the ride in a fun and warm way. The mountain views were gorgeous, each one more beautiful than the last and there were way more aspen groves and pine trees than I was expecting after driving up through the scrub brush, so we had a mix of all the scenery and some nice shade at points too. The horses were excellently trained and we had an amazing ride. We’ve been riding a few places in Gilpin and Summit County, and the drive up to Grand County was totally worth it as this was the best experience we’ve had so far. Highly recommend.

Amazing family experience thanks to the wonderful family and staff at Rusty Spur Ranch! Connie was very helpful over the phone, and John, our guide, was very attentive to the group on the 2 hour tour while offering outstanding care and support to our 8 year old daughter who had never ridden a horse outside of pony rides in an amusement park setting. The fact that the rider gets to personalize the ride through the aspen groves and mountainside truly gives it an authentic and very special feel. This is all a testament to the outstanding bond that the family that runs the ranch has for their horses, grounds, and staff. The experience is tailored from the beginning to pair a horse with the rider that will make the ride an optimal encounter with the beautiful surroundings. It was truly a wonderful experience.

I did the cattle drive for my birthday this past weekend and when I say I don’t have enough good things to say about this experience I truly mean it!! I’ve been doing trail rides for the past few years and was originally looking at the 2 hr ride here when I found the cattle drive. If you want an experience like no other than this is it, and worth every single dollar paid. Bailey was our guide - super welcoming and great at teaching the ins/outs of cattle work. The owner even joined us halfway through and he was very open to answering everyone’s questions. Seeing the changing leaves mid September was the icing on the cake. My horse was Poca and she is the most perfect working girl I’ve ever met <3 if you get her as your horse give her some love from me!

We have enjoyed numerous trail rides with our children (9 and 12), but when I say that this experience surpasses them all tenfold, I truly mean it. Our time at @rustyspurrranch was nothing short of magical. Unlike the typical nose-to-tail rides we have been on before, this particular ranch and experience stood out to us. Their trail rides provide a perfect balance of controlled freedom, allowing you to ride while immersing yourself in the breathtaking scenery. There is no doubt that we will return. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Colorado, regardless of how far they may be from the ranch. The knowledge, care, small riding group (just 5 of us), and genuine love that each wrangler and handler has for the horses and the land are unparalleled.

I loved this! We did the 2 hour trial riding experience but ended up going a little over so it was more like 2 and 1/2 hours. John was such a good instructor! He taught us some tricks we can do with the horses, and shared some history about the land. The views were also wonderful!

What an amazing experience! Connie was able to get me in for a cattle drive only a few days prior to the event and was a joy to work with! Han and his son Wyatt showed them at old school manners and values are still alive out here in the west. They were exceptionally patient with members of our group who weren’t as experienced and made everyone feel like they were really a big help moving the cows! The experience of free riding and moving these cattle will make it hard for me to ever go back to a nose-to-tail dude string again! What an exceptional outfit they run!

We did the 2 hour ride with Brandy as our guide and had an amazing time. She took us to the most beautiful spots and there were very few spaces where we had to walk single file. The horses were healthy and well cared for.
