Wanted to see the ranch. My boyfriend Bill Bailey worked on the ranch back in the 50's for Bill Barkley. Walked back to the ranch house, met Charles Backus on his way out. Seemed friendly enough but was probably busy so didn't seem to want to talk to long. Said we could walk on back and look around. The one original house was still there but they had enlarged it a bit. Pretty cool having Bill tell stories of how he used to drive cattle down the mountain. So much history.

This is suppose to be the location of the board house where Jacob Waltz would hike down from his mine to get supplies and return to the mine. Waltz said he could get to the ranch and back to his mine in one day. The Quarter Circle Ranch house was built after the board house burnt down.
