We have been to Pope Farms many times through the years for amazing produce, seeds, and even hay. This year, after growing our own bushel of green chili's, we were in search of a roaster (so we didn't have to spend 3 hours over a grill). We found out they offer this service for a small fee. The woman who roasted for us was VERY experienced. She may even be considered a roasting expert. The way she hoisted the bushel over her head and snapped on the flames was inspiring. I hope I am as spry and strong when I am her age!
Got home and spent an hour peeling and packaging the perfectly roasted chili's. From picking to freezer in 2 1/2 hours, thanks to that woman and Pope Farms!

I love love love stopping by Pope Farms. I bought my hanging plants for my porch and will be going back to get some for my deck and patio. The hanging plants at the $40 mark are large, full and unique in color varieties!!! I will gladly pay a little extra to support local business, and the customer service is top notch!!! Anddddd, they’re open year round, I’ll be back to see the Holiday Selection of goodies. I also love being able to pick up fresh veggies, local meat & dairy items and they have a large selection of canned goods. 🙂

The employees were EXTREMELY rude. Several customers in the store with us, and we were watched like we we were doing something wrong. The employees were whispering while staring directly at us. My niece grabbed an apple and took a bite, okay cool, I grabbed a larger apple to be weighed. Got up to the register with two separate transactions. No pleasantries, and before I could explain the apple situation the cashier said, “I grabbed an apple to be weighed”. This very much confirmed we were being treated like we were doing something wrong. I grabbed the apple out of the cart and explained to her I was not going to leave without paying for it. The cashier then refused to take the apple I had gotten to be weighed from me. Then the cashier rudely asked for the additional items left in the cart, that was on a separate transaction. Again, this was before I could explain to her what we were doing. I explained it was a separate transaction, to which she acted like it was an inconvenience. There is candy out on the counter for kids, and my niece, who is a kid, went to grab a candy, the cashier, once again, very rudely started making comments to my YOUNG niece about the candy. Completely uncalled for since the candy bucket was completely full and she had only grabbed one candy, which is the rule, not to mention she is a YOUNG kid. I have never felt so unwelcome in any store in my life. I love to support small businesses and try to do so frequently, but definitely will not do so with this one.

The produce is very fresh and they have frozen tart cherries 🍒 so I can make pies 🥧! They also have a decent selection of plants and products. Really worth the visit!
