I stopped by today to sell some of my clothes, which included mostly Levi’s, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Brandy Melville pieces. To my surprise, they only accepted the Brandy Melville items and returned my Levi’s and Ralph Lauren clothes—even though they were in great condition and of better quality.

When I asked the staff why they wouldn’t take my other items, they explained that they already have enough stock of those styles and are focusing on more ā€œtrendyā€ pieces, Im assuming to attract a younger crowd. This included passing on classic straight-leg jeans and natural fiber knits, which I thought would be desirable staples.

I left feeling pretty disappointed, especially having to lug back my bag of quality clothes. If you have vintage or higher-quality items, this might not be the store for you, as they seem to prioritize fast fashion and trendier brands over timeless styles.

This place is way overpriced for their own good. This place is a SECOND HAND clothing store. You know the stores that sell old worn clothing for a cheaper price. Well I guess they didn't get the memo.

Everything was clearly fast fashion just a from a glance. One look at a price tag left me speechless.

They were selling a clearly old worn Carhartt jacket for $125!! I might as well just by one new for cheaper. There is no deal here, they are selling used clothing for bought-new prices OR EVEN UPCHARGE!

Not even to mention the person responding to the reviews is incredibly rude and making mockery of customers who have genuine concerns.

Please avoid this place.

1/24/25 around 10:30am. The buyers at the Pacifica location were making negative comments about the clothes I had brought to sell, amongst eachother saying ā€œwe would NEVER buy things like that hereā€ as I was standing by the skirts section. I get that may not be items ur looking for at the moment and that’s perfectly fine, I sell all the time to Plato’s I understand the process. But also I’m not sure what they were talking about cuz unlike most of the things at Plato’s my clothes don’t have stains or holes in them. They were also commenting negatively about the bags I had put my items in which one of them said ā€œwhere did she get these bags fromā€ as the other employee said ā€œoh she probably got those for free somewhereā€ it was really hurtful and questionable comments. It was mean girl energy and unfortunately it’s quite always like that at this location. I’m a very loyal customer at this location and feel very upset about this. I feel uncomfortable about selling and let alone buying from this location if that’s how the employees are talking about the customers

They have a really good selection of fitness apparel here, and a lot of great jackets. The employees were friendly to me. I’ll definitely be coming back again.

I like coming because there's a wide variety of clothes. Sometimes the prices are a little high just like everting in the bay area. just come here to find clothes and don't expect good customer service. Everyone is rude here.
Update: They need to train the employees the store if 50% Shein, it's crazy. Plus the service is so bad specially if you are not a white girly.

No wonder this location has bad/so-so reviews: they don't really buy anything from you despite the condition of clothing being like-new, on their list of what they're buying, and current/on trend. I took a bag there to let go of clothes and see if they would buy a few pieces but after waiting for 2 1/2 hours I came back to them saying there wasn't anything they could take -- quote from the worker, "We have to be REALLY picky on what we buy." Looking through the racks it's nothing but fast fashion, cheap polyester clothes and SHEIN ranging in XXS-S sizes. Compare this to Crossroads or Buffalo Exchange in the city where they at least take *some* stuff. I also don't think they really looked through the whole bag of items, only the top portion of the bag I had folded were rummaged through while the bottom portion wasn't touched. I took the bag here because it's closer to where I live rather than schlepping over to the city. I'm not expecting them to buy the whole bag of the pieces I drop off but to at least take a few items.

I was so excited to find out that Plato will sell your clothes and give you up to 30%. So for 2 months I cleaned all my closets and had 3 trash bags full of clothes I no longer fit into, and 1/2 of them were brand new with tags. Sean John, Klein, pollo, Lauren, I have all the name brands. Unfortunately Plato only wanted 5 pieces of my clothing and gave me back my 3 bags of clothes. Not sure why they wouldn’t want all my stuff I have some really cool stuff. But o well, I’ll just have to sell them on my own.

My girlfriend finds some great deals there and they always have sexy stuff for her. That I’m thankful for.

Don’t trust my words, trust your eyes. I’ll be kind and say they’re quite ambitious with their pricing. They had t-shirts going for 10 bucks that were in a similar state of wear to those I’m preparing to throw away. Check the picture of what $20 worth of jeans gets you!
