I ordered 25 blueberry plants (3 varieties - small plugs) and 25 raspberry (Joan J -bare root) and 5 blackberry (Natchez) from Nourse Farms for my property in Maine (Zone 5A). All arrived in good condition, boxed and packaged well with damp roots via UPS.

I had the soil for the blueberry plants prepared well in advance of their arrival, a mixture of topsoil, compost, and a lot of spagnum peat moss (6 bales for a 75 foot mounded row). The day the plants arrived they were strong green stems with reddish buds and no leaves. They were immediately put in the ground. The instructions stated clearly to put the plants in the ground immediately. I believe the growth of the blueberry plants resulted from preparing the soil in advance, planting when they arrived, watering them thoroughly and irrigating them continuously with a drip line on a timer.

I also had the soil (compost and topsoil mixed) for the raspberry and blackberry plants prepared in advance. The raspberry roots were in good shape with some new shoots already forming. The Blackberry plants were little plugs with 1 or two leaves each. They were each planted upon arrival and are growing well. 30 days after, of 25 bare root raspberry plants, all have now popped leaves. Most have a primocane or two, 4 to 8 inches tall with 12 to 18 leaves.

Of the 5 blackberry plants, all are thriving, 6 inches tall with 12 to 18 leaves.

The Nourse Farms website gives you instructions and they have a few videos on YouTube. I read the instructions and watched the videos before my plants arrived. If you follow the instructions, your berry plants will thrive. I'm thoroughly pleased.

Five Stars.

I’ve been growing raspberries, blackberries, blue berries and strawberries in Massachusetts for over 40 years. Three years’ ago, I decided to buy from Nourse. In 2022, the raspberries and blackberries didn’t do well. Of ten bought, 8 died. While I watered well, I attributed the loss due to the drought. In 2023, I tried again with another 10 plants. Five were small, but I planted them---four made it. Five were in bad shape from shipping---only short stumps above the plug. Planted them in 1-liter pots and they were ready to plant by July. Four made it. I decided to give Norse one last try this year. Disappointed with very poor packing, again. The five Chester Blackberry plugs were stumps---all stems and leaves broken off. The five Jewel Raspberry plugs were small sticks above the plug, but at least had buds. The two blueberry, 1-lier pots were sticks, no sign of buds. Planted the blueberries into large, 1 gallon pots, and the berries in 1-liter pots and will hope for the best. These are not cheap plants: $7 each for the blackberries and raspberries, $11.55 each for the blueberry plants plus $23.95 for shipping and handling. At those prices, one should expect decent sized plants and proper shipping. I’m done with Nourse.

I have purchased bramble plugs on multiple occasions from Nourse Farms. The experiences are uniformly positive from the ordering of the tiny plant cultures through the successful yielding of berries and the healthy plants. And the staff at Nourse are always responsive to questions and accommodating to changes in delivery needs. An A-1 operation!

National news! This farm negligently and apparently willfully sprayed toxic pesticides onto neighboring crops that were to be used for medicinal purposes, is failing to mitigate damages, failing to concede to its criminal negligence and is failing to make restitution for the damage it has already caused. This entity should be shutdown and condemned. Any comment Nourse?

I ordered 500 strawberry plants and they arrived in great condition! A lot of the crowns were really big! I appreciated the agro gel sample they sent along, but I did order some as well to give my strawberry plants the best start. A week later and they are thriving and putting on a lot of new green. I'm super pleased with my order from Nourse Farms and will definitely order from them again.

I purchased some bare root strawberry plants from this company and I have to say I’m so impressed with their communication about my order and with the plants themselves. I ordered in advance of my need for the plants but sure enough, come the week I selected for shipping, I got prompt and clear communication about where my order was and when it was coming. A few of the roots had healthy growth forming by the time they got to me. Shortly after putting them in soil, every single one is flourishing and growing leaves...even one I accidentally damaged the crown a bit while planting. 🙂 The literature included on how to treat the plants they sell is fantastic, too. I will definitely purchase here again.

Exceptional experience ordering two blueberry bushes for home planting from Nourse Farms. They provide great information and detail from the moment you place your order. Nourse made sure that I got the blueberry bushes at the right time for planting in my area. They sent the bushes with a booklet that provided detailed information on how to successfully plant them. My bushes transplanted beautifully and are growing well. Will definitely order from Nourse in the future.

I will never order strawberries from any place else. Nourse has the healthiest bare roots and they're packaging and shipping is second to none. Every single plant has come out and very healthy. Thanks Gary
