We’ve dined at La Nonna twice before over the past couple of years and were always impressed with the fine Italian cuisine, so we were excited to return. The restaurant itself is stunning—cathedral ceilings, large picture windows, and a warm, inviting ambiance. The service remains impeccable, with friendly and attentive staff.

However, what was seriously lacking this time was the food. Dishes that were once rich, flavorful, and indulgent felt underwhelming and uninspired. The wild boar pasta (Tagliatelle al Cinghiale), which used to be our favorite dish, was a major disappointment—dry, lacking sauce, and missing the depth of flavor that once made it a standout. The lamb ragu pasta, was decent but nowhere near the caliber you’d expect from a restaurant where reservations are nearly impossible to secure. The lobster risotto, a special of the night, barely had any lobster—just a few tiny pieces, making it feel like a regular risotto rather than something special.

Overall, La Nonna still offers a beautiful setting and top-notch service, but the food has taken a noticeable step down. For a place with such a stellar reputation, we expected much more. Hopefully, this was just an off night, but given how difficult it is to get a table, it’s hard to justify the effort for a meal that felt so underwhelming.

Great place for your Italian fix! The evening started off a little rough - we were seated but after 30 minutes we finally asked someone walking by if they knew who our server was. Apparently there was a mixup on whose table it was so nobody came to check on us. A little frustrating since we were just sitting there looking around for 30 minutes but once our server came over, the night turned out fine. The menu had a lot of great options but the one dish I was most looking forward to was the short ribs. I’m a sucker for short ribs so naturally that’s what I ordered. My wife ordered one of their pastas and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We didn’t partake in any drinks but they had a huge wine menu and other assorted cocktails. Even though the night started off a little rough, the food made up for it as it was delicious! We will certainly be back again.

I’ll start with the good: service, drinks and atmosphere. Our server was amazing, super attentive and very helpful. I ordered a house espresso martini and it was typical, nothing out of the ordinary. I also ordered the Lavender Dream and it was good. Atmosphere was a vibe, we were seated by a window and the views were enjoyable.

The bad: food was mostly horrible. I ordered the Gnocchetti Sardi. My pasta had a weird texture and the flavors did not mesh good at all. The pesto flavor was non existent. I asked for no sundried tomato’s and refuse to think that this changed the complete structure of its flavor composition. The calamari was the only dish we enjoyed.

I really loved this place. Beautiful dining areas to create a slightly casual atmosphere.

The servers were spectacular. Friendly and offered superb suggestions. I am glad I listened to my server's suggestions.

The food is tasty. The 2 pasta dishes we had were delicious and the mussels were incredible. If you like your dishes to be a little more bold in flavor, I'd suggest asking for red pepper flakes or similar. I felt my pasta was lacking a little something and I think it was a little spice . Nonetheless, delicious and highly recommended.

Favorite Italian in vail! The mushroom pasta is amazing - it’s rich so I’d suggest splitting it with one other pasta. Great wine selection and vibes. Carpaccio was just OK we wouldn’t order again.

Some of the very best Italian food we have had in a long time and one of our favorite meals in Vail! Just a friendly heads up, make sure you book well in advance! Like significantly down the road… Our table was right next to the balcony/window and had an incredible view at night. The pasta was amazing, the appetizers were delicious, the drinks were great, and the chocolate mousse dessert was on a whole new level. My gf still talks about it to this day. We I’ll visit this place every time we go to Vail! Nothing in Vail is cheap but the flavor of this place is well worth it. One of our new favorite places.

My husband & I eloped in Minturn in September 2024, and finished our day at La Nonna... we could not have made a better choice for where to celebrate our wedding! My husband mentioned that we were celebrating our wedding when he made the reservation, and the La Nonna staff went above & beyond to make our experience special. The food/drinks were incredible & it was an awesome dining experience overall. The location/atmosphere is also great, with a patio overlooking Vail Village.

We will definitely be back!
