Before the hummingbird farm was constructed, there was a natural spring here that used to feed a creek that flowed down geneva into Visitacion valley and around Wenahmon hill all the way to the bay. The spring is still there because I see the rushes poking up through the woodchips, and the willow grove a little further downhill, but I don't know why they just built right on top of it. It has been a long time since the creek flowed since Genva avenue was built on top of it, but it would be nice to see it restored in some form one day. Maybe in a little strectch from the spring to the edge of the park at Geneva. I hope they recognize that it is there and preserve it because there are few natural springs left in San Francisco.
