I think that this is such a lovely and well kept garden. No trash was viewed as I was walking through and everything smelled so lovely and in bloom. Another huge plus is that it is free! There is also a kids garden and bridge that are a fun way to entertain the kiddos, bring a lunch and make a fun free activity of it!
Yes compared to some gardens in the lower 48 it is smaller, I think that selection of plants and the zero cost it is a very great option! During the summer they also have music in the garden along with many activities that you can join.

Love this gorgeous garden! Cute shelters, surrounding trail heads, picnic tables, willow tunnel, lots of port-a-potties, drinking fountain, a wild rose bush maze- that’s also shaped like a wild rose, educational signs, SO many flowers & plants…in the summer, UAF has a free shuttle to assist explorations

This Gardens is extremely small compared to other ones I have visited in the United States. However the flowers are beautiful the location is relaxing and we enjoyed our leisurely hour and a half visit.

I visited (no fee) on Saturday, the day after the first frost. I met the director who was working on clearing plants. She took time to explain the purpose of the garden and the types of flora to expect. The site is eight acres with lots of footpaths. Many types of plants are being grown, as this is a research facility on the UAF campus. It is a fantastic place for a stroll or to visit with children. Make it a two-for-one by visiting the Museum of the North as well. It's within walking distance.

So many beautiful gardens, it's really cool to see all the different varieties that grow here! I also like seeing what does well here to help inspire me on what to plant in my own garden. Love the pollinator signs too, lots of pollinators on the flowers, it's so nice to see so many busy bees!
