Auction ran on Aug 15th 2023. Sent an 8 month old black baldy bull through. I received a check by Mail for a bull that weighed 280lbs. I have had other ranchers in my area warn me about "giving away at least one animal each time" now I see it's fact. Our farm will no longer use Franklin county, we will continue to do business with the upstate auction. I urge others to pay close attention to the dishonesty of Franklin county live stock auction.

Easy to find, and set up to handle any size rig easily and efficiently. Sale starts 12 p.m. on Tuesdays. Checks are currently available for pickup 9-11 a.m. Wednesdays, or will be mailed promptly at 11 a.m. My weights have seemed accurate the 5 or so times I've sold there. A livestock auction is what it is, though. Time is money, so animals are moved through rapidly. Unfortunately, probably the most effective way (and safest for employees) to quickly move large numbers of cattle through a sale is with flags, electric prods and the fear they induce. I watch my cattle sell partly because it keeps me grounded as to what they experience both throughout the auction process and after. Also, it's not unusual for cattle to sustain injuries in sale barns from being pushed too hard or being put in with wilder and/or horned cattle. Sellers pay a nominal insurance fee to offset the reduced price injured animals bring, so I want to know about any injuries immediately even though I have given up the right to control what happens with that animal.
