I visited Farm Creek Public Wildlife Area expecting a peaceful day of fishing and wildlife spotting. Instead, I caught the biggest newt I have ever seen—so big, in fact, that I didn’t even know they could grow that large. After admiring it for a moment, I let it go, only to watch in horror as it immediately swallowed a dog whole.

Things escalated quickly from there. The newt turned its attention to me, and I barely made it to my car before it launched a full-scale attack, tore off my wiper blades and wing mirrors, and managed to break the rear bumper in half. Trapped inside for three days, I had nothing to eat and nearly starved, my keys were unfortunately left in my tent.

Despite the ordeal, Farm Creek is a pretty nice place.

Quiet area, with variety of wildlife - waterfowl, grassland birds, deer, etc.! Two different ponds, about a mile apart. Young Pond, and Riepe Pond (about a mile East from Young pond on Chestnut road)

Caught a 2LB Bass off of a rubber worm within 5 minutes of my first cast! Although I didn't have another good bite for almost 2 hours before packing up and calling it a day!

Great place, not too far from the metro area. Getting fished more heavily but still a good spot.

Nice pond with many fish, just need to trick them into biting the lure or bait.

A perfect little pond to try new baits out for bass. Would be a little better if there was more shore fishing access but putting in a kayak you can get to every little hiding spot in the back. There are a lot of sunken trees just below the surface so be cautious with props in the water.
