My sister, her 1 year old and my 19 year old visited the farm this weekend on Saturday. Tour guides were very knowledgeable and even snapped some pics for us. The property is beautiful. Seeing so many different kinds of animals and getting to be up close was amazing! Reminded me of Catskill Game Farm a bit. Each of us had a favorite part. I loved the baby goats and my daughter loved the water buffalo. All in all, a perfect way to spend the day with family. We are all animal lovers so thoroughly enjoyed every minute and learned some things too. If you are on the fence, I would absolutely not hesitate to book a tour. Great local spot in Dutchess County - minutes outside of Village of Millbrook and approx 2 hours from NYC. Thank you to all involved for making our day so special!

My wife, youngest and I went to Elk Ravine on Saturday. My wife has always loved Scottish Highland Cows and this gave her the opportunity to get up close and enjoy them. Kathy was our tour guide of the farm, and she was great. Despite the cold weather, it was so much fun we are planning a return trip in the fall with all the kids. The emus were quite entertaining as they seem intimidating at first but are more like 2-year-old toddlers just getting into everything and are really friendly. It was a really great way to start 2025, relaxing and enjoyable and all the staff there were kind and accommodating. Elk Ravine is a hidden gem.

My girlfriend and I booked a tour at Elk Ravine Farm, and it was truly one of the best experiences of our lives! The staff were incredibly accommodating—they picked us up from the train station, and even stopped for us to grab pizza on the way back!

The farm had a wonderful variety of animals to interact with: pigs, goats, emus, bunnies, horses, buffalo, and of course, the charming Highland cows. Upon arrival, we took a tour of the farm on a horse-drawn carriage, where we learned all about the history of the place.

Next, we went around to visit the animals we had seen during the ride, enjoying the chance to pet, scratch, and groom them.

The highlight of the tour was definitely meeting the Highland cows. I had so much fun grooming them that I didn’t want to leave. They were so sweet, gathering around for more attention—it seemed like they didn’t want me to leave either!

Everyone at the farm made the experience feel personal and special, and I’m confident no one will be disappointed by a visit here.

Amazing experience! Kathy was very sweet with a great sense of humor. We learned a lot about all of the animals. From bottle feeding one of the baby calves to meeting the beautiful horses. We left in awe and filled with lovely memories.

An absolutely spectacular place!! The farm is run by the loveliest family, and each guide takes the time and care to present the animals and history of the farm throughout. I booked a tour with my extended family and there was truly something for everyone. We had an absolutely unforgettable time at Elk Ravine Farm! The baby highlands stole our hearts with their playful energy and adorable fluffy coats. The farm itself is such a peaceful escape, and the staff were incredibly welcoming, making our experience even more special. We’re already counting down the days until our next visit! What an *incredibly* special place! The farm is beautifully managed and every animal is so loved, cared for, and good tempered. It’s such a rare experience being invited to get close to (AND learn about!) SO many wonderful creatures… sweet donkeys, 3wk old goats, water buffalo, emus, ponies, gigantic rabbits, Sasha the puppy, three sweet corgis, Dilly our darling carriage ride horse, and… Scottish Highland Cattle (how we found our way to this special place!). Jim and Kathy are treasures - so kind and warm. We loved learning about their conservation efforts and commitment to supporting sustainable grazing and a history of transportation with an incredible array of carriages! We can’t recommend a visit highly enough. We were too busy loving every minute to take lots of pictures and we can’t wait to visit again (and again and again!).

The farm tour was amazing! We enjoyed a horse drawn carriage ride and got up close and personal with goats, donkeys, emus, horses and, of course, cows! The baby highlands are to die for! Jim and Cathy were so great and taught a lot about the animals. It is clear they love their animals and take amazing care of them. Highly recommend for animals lovers!
