Elevated Olive is one of my favorite shops in Steamboat! I am a loyal local customer who frequently shops there for myself and to purchase gifts for friends. I also visit multiple times per week throughout the summer & fall with my Steamboat Springs Food Tour Guests! My food tour guests always rave about their time at Elevated Olive because they are treated to a wonderful overview of how the oils/vinegars are produced, the health benefits, and how to cook with the variety of oils/vinegars they sell. We then take time to taste and it’s always fun to see what oils/vinegars my guest’s favorites are. Being a food tour guide I spend time with lots of “Foodies” and they thoroughly enjoy our lengthy stop at Elevated Olive. My guests love taking home oils and vinegars from Elevated Olive as a special remembrance of Steamboat Springs. My guests always thank me for introducing them to Elevated Olive and to June and Carol who couldn’t be nicer and more educational. I love asking them for recipe suggestions and I’m never disappointed! I have learned so much from both June & Carol in the years that I’ve been bringing my food tour guests into Elevated Olive. I have many favorites and an entire shelf in my kitchen dedicated to my Elevated Olive oils and vinegars. I don’t buy oils or vinegars anywhere else.

This week my family and I visited Steamboat Springs. Late-night after closing we passed this shop and made a mental note to return the next day. We are suckers for quiant specialty shops with curated items and artisan products. When we entered the shop we browsed for some time before we saw an employee come from the back area. My wife said hello to the employee as we continued to shop. Even when we physically passed the employee she said nothing to us the entire time. Instead of purchasing the items we bookmarked when window shopping the night before, we left with nothing. When we returned to our Airbnb we spent nearly $140 on a small cheeseboard and an olive oil despenser on Amazon very similar to what we returned to the store during business hours to purchase. The lack of customer service lost our business yesterday and there is no reason we will return on our next visit to Steamboat Springs. I learned after-the-fact that our teenage son said hello to her twice only to be met with closed lips. Had a known this at time time I would have asked for the owner's informatiom. I'd hate to think that it was the owner we encountered, though. How specialty shops survive when customers don't feel welcomed and valued I couldn't say. I don't know if all customers receive the same cold treatment or if it is reserved for customers that look like us but either way, I am happy to inform other customers of our experience.

UPDATE: Upon visiting the website I was able to identify that the poor service and silent treatment was directly from one of the owners. Terribly disappointing.

Whether you're an expert or a home cook, Elevated Olive gives you an amazing education and sampling so you leave knowing you got the perfect oils and vinegar! June met us on our Steamboat Springs Food Tours, and our group had such a remarkable education and sampling. You won't be disappointed, and I can't wait to go back!

My husband and I stopped in. Carolyn was super helpful and shared many options of oil and vinegar. I am so thankful for the sampling. I am addicted to the lemon infused oil with the honey ginger vinegar. I've put on salads and salmon. What a treat!

Our sales clerk was mediocre at best as far as hospitality goes...it's best if you go in there knowing exactly what you need and want (repeat customers), decent selection of oil and vinegars. They are also selling some hand towels, hot sauces, and soaps. Cool place to browse and sample, just don't expect the customer service experience to blow you away (the main reason for my two stars here).

They were so helpful! You're able to taste before you buy. We tasted a few of them and loved them all, and came home with two vinegars and two oils. Can't wait to try them.

If I didn’t love the selection of balsamic and olive oils the elevated olive would never receive my business based on the customer service. The woman working was very rude, I felt as if it was a huge inconvenience for her to answer any of my questions. We don’t come to steamboat often but when we do we try to support local businesses. This place is lovely, it’s a shame that the customer service isn’t the same.
