We had such an amazing stay at Dogwood Hills! Ruth, Grace & Tom go out of their way to create a welcoming and comfortable environment. The lovingly prepared, and locally sourced, home-cooked meals were absolutely delicious, and the farm is home to a wide array of friendly animals to hang with. As a person with multiple food allergies, eating while traveling is usually a source of constant stress for me. However, the care that was taken to prepare each of my meals was so thoughtful and intentional that I cannot stress how cared for I felt. (PS: Everything that comes out of this kitchen is gluten-free!) Not to mention, this was THE spot to watch the eclipse, and is a close drive to the beautiful Buffalo National River. Thank you for the lovely stay!!

This farm is fantastic!! Our kids (5,3,2 and 9 months) had the best time milking cows, feeding the animals and collecting chicken eggs! Grace was so sweet and patient with our kiddos and all of their questions! Ruth was also a fabulous host and cook!! I highly recommend staying here and planning all your dinners here as well! Staying at night and enjoying the hot tub while looking at the stars was an added bonus to all of the fun we had all day! Cannot wait to visit again!

Dates: Aug 21-24th
Family of 4 - wife, two children (1 and 4 y.o.) and myself

We recently moved to Arkansas, and with the month of Aug off until my wife and I start work, we'd been looking for a place to take our children to show them what the night sky is supposed to look like.

Well, we didn't get to do that because we were so spent at the end of the day that we were all promptly asleep by 8 pm.

Nonetheless, the experience that Ms. Ruth, Gracie, and the "Reluctant Farmer" provided was one for the books.

Pros:
(1) Hospitality - bar none. Ruth and Gracie truly take pride in what they have cultivated for the past 16 years. It is not an easy feat to do the work required day in and day out to not only care for the livestock and the vegetation but to also demonstrate their talents and skillset to every person who visits with them. I don't know how they do it, but they're absolute rockstars. My family and I felt welcomed from the moment we drove down that driveway until the moment we left.

(2) The food - wow. Just clean eating. No preservatives, no fluff, no artificial anything. Absolutely wonderful. Delicious breakfasts and dinners. My wife and I have eaten at fine-dining establishments, but we would rather eat here every day. They make it so easy to just relax and enjoy every bite. They had things for our boys to entertain themselves with while we could just enjoy finishing our coffee. Just such a thoughtfully curated experience. I ate until I felt sufficiently full, and there was still more food to be eaten.

We don't have dietary restrictions, and we're glad that we didn't. At baseline everything is gluten-free, but nobody would be the wiser. Absolutely phenomenal. They went so far as to make bulgogi for us for one of the dinners. It was Ms Ruth's first time cooking it, but she could've fooled us.

(3) The location - it's a working farm with the full circle of life clearly visible at every stage. What a lovely reminder for my wife and myself, and an unforgettable experience for our children. The guesthouse where we stayed was just down the road - very well-furnished, air-conditioned, has a hot tub that we did not use due to the weather just being so warm. We took trips to Rush Landing to a small creek at Ms Ruth's suggestion as well as to the Ozark Folk Center and to Blanchard Springs Caverns on each of the days. The drives are all each around 45 minutes or shorter.

Con:

(1) We picked the wrong time of the year to visit. Too warm.

This place is not just a business for them - it's their livelihood, and they just love to show it off and share it. They have every right to do just that. This place is something special.

We would love to return. If you have a chance to stay with them, please do.

We just had the most delightful stay here--the hosts are wonderful, friendly and extremely helpful! We had 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts during our stay and they were all absolutely amazing! We enjoyed snuggling with newly hatched ducklings and milked the cow. In the evenings, we got into the hot tub on the deck, watched the sunset and saw the milky way. The only problem was that we didn't want to leave!

If you'd like to sample a taste of farming life, you should definitely plan a visit to this gorgeous Ozark Mountains hideaway where you can milk a cow, feed the chickens and help with other farm chores. The setting in Buffalo River country is flat-out beautiful, and I'm certain you'll enjoy the hospitality you'll receive from Ruth and Grace Pepler. The food they'll cook for you comes from their farm and other local farms, and it's delicious and healthy. The store is full of Arkansas-made items that make great gifts or souvenirs. Visit soon. You'll be glad you did.

Ruth and Grace always go off the charts to create a first rate agritourism experience. You can witness a TRUE farm to table existence when you stay and eat a culinary meal with thought and love. They have made themselves into a: dairy farm, local ware gift shop, chef prepared small (but well made) mini restaurant, and have a full functioning farm that is self sustained. What a beautiful life!

I don’t know where to start. Maybe they deserve 5 stars because just sitting at the kitchen table eating some delicious chicken Marsala that Ruth and her daughter, Grace just prepared. Or maybe it was the fascinating conversation that was going on between each bite of dinner learning about farm life. Now it could have been Tom’s (Ruth’s husband) occasional input on our thought- provoking conversation. I am leaning towards the idea of staying in a beautiful 3 bedroom country cottage perched high about the view of the cows, chickens, goats and alpacas and many other of Gods gifts for us to enjoy. Whatever it was, we enjoyed a lovely few days and will definitely be returning. Thank you Ruth, Grace and Tom for your hospitality.
