Scenery and location of the lodge are perfect. The eateries across the street are wonderful. Within the lodge itself, service is totally catered to cruise ship guests only. Regular guests traveling through the lodge are basically not needed.
The restaurant King Salmon for breakfast was very very good and beautiful. Stefan was a GREAT server!
EVERYTHING closes very early coffee shop closes at 9:00 am (after cruise ship buses leave). And dinner places close at 9:00pm.
Overall I would stay there again for location but my expectations would be managed better.
As far as snacks - GET IT IN ANCHORAGE. Liquor is very pricey, snacks are none existent.
We were a group of 14.

The Black Bear across the street is delicious and so is Prospectors Pizza!

We want to thank Cheryl and Juliana for taking care of our accommodations, they were very thoughtful and considerate of our needs. Both of these ladies went above and beyond to help us and were very gracious. I would recommend staying at this lodge just because of their kindness. Also the food at the Alpenglow was delicious and our servers also were considerate.

Wasn’t of the quality I’d expect. No fridge or microwave. Room was 2 beds, TV, 2 chairs and loveseat. Had to go downstairs for more linens. Climate system didn’t work well. However, the transportation system was good. Property shuttle. Shuttle to railroad and bus depot. National park shuttle. Shuttles for most activities came to the lodge. Customer service was poor. Had to ask several different people what to do on last day of our stay. We booked through Alaska Travel and not as part of the cruise package

I had hopes that the resort would echo the Princess standard of quality it did not.|The lodge is in need of a major renovation. |The beds were very uncomfortable and lumpy. The bedding was very light weight and rough. The thing that bothered me most was the carpet was filthy. |I get that you are in a park and people hike.|We were there at the end of the season too.|Even with taking that into consideration it was a poor refection on Princess. The furniture is stained and worn bear. The tables were stained, dirty and sticky. They don’t get wiped up as often as they should.|The whole resort deserves a total overhaul to be worthy of the Princess reputation.

Great for what we needed! This hotel was part of our Princess cruise + land package.

The good: comfortable & clean room, shower amenities provided, very clean property, on-site shuttles every 30 min to take you to Denali National Park Visitor Center, great staff that are very helpful & knowledgeable at the front desk, easily walkable property with on-site restaurant options, on-site shops, and this property is conveniently right across the street from some amazing shops/restaurants. Very walkable and the property sits by a beautiful river, which has a sidewalk to walk beside the water.

The “needs improvement”: Bring your earplugs- you can hear quite a bit of noise from adjacent rooms. The rooms are also a bit dated- you have to consider that many places in Alaska may not have central heat/air, so take that for what it’s worth- the room didn’t have either, just a baseboard heating unit, however we stayed quite comfortable in July & kept the window open for a breeze. Room had basic TV, with 14 channels- again, not what we cared about, but just something to consider. The Princess restaurants are a bit over-priced, good quality & great service though!

All in all, I would recommend this property and we greatly enjoyed our stay here!

This was a HORRIBLE hotel experience from beginning to end. After calling 3 times to communicate our delayed arrival due to airline delays and then renting car and driving, we arrived at 11:00 p.m. at night. We had 4 rooms for family traveling together. One of the rooms was so dirty and ransacked, food on tables, beds more than slept in, trash all over so we had to go back to front desk and request new room. Moved to a new room and the sink could not drain. I asked for some kind of compensation after being charged $535.00 per night for room. The supervisor wouldn't even come out to see me. I finally got a voucher for one breakfast. SAD! When we went to check out, my husband came to pick up my handicapped and elderly 82 year old aunt and uncle. The transportation supervisor, Derrik told him he had to park in the parking lot. We explained they couldn't walk that far and they were waiting at the door, it would take less than 5 minutes and there were NO busses there. He was more than rude and one of his female employees told us "Go cry me a river" when we asked for some empathy. The management was just horrible here. Then the charge of $535.00 for a 1987 dated and old room that was so dirty and past its prime was RIDICULOUS! DON'T STAY HERE! They do not care about guests, customer service or the fact that tourists pay their living.

Pros: comfortable beds, Disneyland style village with access to several nice, convenient restaurants like King Salmon and Fannie Qs. Fun shopping including a nicely stocked store, water-refilling stations and convenient bus pickup for the tours. Bus drivers were pleasant and helpful with questions. |Cons: the staff behind the Princess Lodge desk must be exasperated with repeat questions from guests since they were repeatedly quite rude to several people in our party of ten. The water faucets ran slightly brown water which was a bit disturbing but acceptable for washing and bathing.
