City Farmers Nursery

City Farmers Nursery is a 1.5-acre space that extends into a canyon, offering a diverse selection of plants, including bonsai, cacti, succulents, and more common garden varieties. Beyond the plants, the nursery functions almost like an open-air educational space, with farm animals such as goats, turtles, and a donkey adding to its unique atmosphere.

The layout makes it easy to explore, and the variety of offerings means there’s something for both casual gardeners and serious horticulturists. If you’re looking for a nursery that combines a wide selection with a community-oriented approach, this is worth a visit. While you’re there, stop by Nate’s Garden Cafe for a meal.

The staff is extremely kind and helpful! Especially their carnivorous plant handler. She was informative and helped answer many of my questions for my new plant. I got a repot done and a new nepenthes pitcher. Definitely will be returning! Thanks for making the experience a great one😃

This place was so cool! It was so big and peaceful. There were so many animals and the prettiest trees. There was a cute cat too! Highly recommend 10/10. They have a farm to table restaurant too!

I love coming here so much. Everyone is so incredibly kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. I had questions about starting a backyard garden with raised beds and ended up buying all of my seeds, bulbs, seed potatoes, soil, and compost from them. Now I have a sweet setup and I’m so excited to harvest my veggies! We love exploring the outdoor areas, the massive plant collections, and seeing the animals! My toddler gets a toy from inside every time we go too. This is truly a unique nursery that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time in the best way. The lore, good vibes, the folks, everything about this place is great. I always look forward to visiting and supporting a local business!

This is a very cool place. It's worth a visit, even if you don't have plans to buy anything. It's owned and operated by the same family for the last 50+ years. They have some conventional stuff, but a lot more unique plants. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. And they have several fauna residents to visit, including turtles, tortoises, goats, chickens, and a miniature donkey.

This is the best nursery I've found in San Diego so far! Huge selection of plants, and the workers were very helpful. They also sell live lady bugs, which is what I originally came for. I left with my lady bugs and so much more. 💚🪻

Magical nursery is all I can say about this place! Plant lovers can bring their families. Little ones can visit the mini donkeys, see their chicken roost, visit the turtle and tortoises, and say hi to the goats all while shopping for their next plant baby. Such a fun place to visit. Loved their different plant collection sections (Staghorn ferns, small selection of airplants, bromeliads, pottery, cacti, roses, pond plants, pollinators, pretty much everything you could imagine they have). They even have a bonsai section. If you happen to be in the area, stop here for a visit! Plenty of parking. There's a restaurant there and also a florist. Simply amazing!

An incredible experience! Which is funny to say about a nursery. But it’s a special nursery. It’s easy to spend hours here, as there’s always another walkway or corner you didn’t expect to be there. Actual live animals to enjoy, beautiful layout, and more plant varieties than you can imagine. Every fruit tree imaginable, an herb garden, even a shade garden with an Asian zen vibe. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable. And once Nate’s is open again after the pandemic shutdown, it’ll only get better.
