⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Caius Farm Brewery – A Hidden Gem

Stopped by Caius Farm Brewery, and it feels like one of those undiscovered spots that won’t stay that way for long. Everything about it is well thought out—the space is clean, welcoming, and well-designed, with a heated, shaded patio that makes it a great place to relax year-round. The outdoor area is family-friendly, and our kids had a great time running around while we enjoyed some beers.

And the beer? Easily among the best in CT. Their IPAs can compete with top-tier breweries, and everything we tried was balanced, flavorful, and well-crafted. I liked it so much I left with a case to take home—definitely hoping they start distributing soon.

For reference, my bar for CT breweries is set by Eridita, Fox Farm, and Counter Weight, and Caius Farm absolutely belongs in that lineup. It’s a hidden gem that deserves more recognition.

The space also has some cool details, like Roman archaeology artifacts throughout and Italian glassware for serving, which adds a unique touch without feeling forced.

The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate, and the food truck, Supreme Poutine, had one of the best cheesesteaks I’ve had in a long time.

Overall, Caius Farm Brewery is a must-visit. If you’re into craft beer or just looking for a great place to spend an afternoon, this is a spot worth checking out. We’ll definitely be making it a regular stop on trips to the CT coast.

I had no idea what a hidden gem this place was when I entered with mild expectations of grabbing a quick pint or two while killing an hour out of town. In short, the beer is phenomenal. PHENOMENAL! Because I was in a bit of a rush, I hadn’t even really paid attention to the bartender who poured my beer. I took one sip and was pleasantly surprised that I was holding a side pull, something you can’t get everywhere. On top of that, this was the best rice logger I’ve ever had in my entire life. I next had the Hills logger, which was also absolutely incredible.

As good as the bear was, there was one thing that was even better. Caius has another hidden gem in their lead bartender Evan. Evan is so much more than a lead bartender. I wonder if Caius knows what they have in him? This man is a true brand ambassador. He enthusiastically shares the history of the founding team, the brewery, and has in-depth knowledge about all of the beers. He acts more like a host/general manager,
than a bartender, is extremely personable and took my 10 out of 10 experience to a 20 out of 10 experience. I can’t thank you enough for being awesome in every single way. Next time I return to the New Haven area and I pop by I surely hope to see you there, brother. Cheers to Caius and Evan, absolutely incredible experience.

Wow. That sums it up. This place should not be this empty, even on a Thursday night. The beers are stellar and maybe beyond the palate of the locals? The motif and vibe is over the top. 10 of 10! Too bad I live 2500 (+) miles from here.

Great craft brewery very close to my house. Great diversity of beer styles available. Wide range of lagers is enjoyable. Friendly and helpful staff. Always enjoy visits. Only small suggestion or complaint is I wish I could do mixed 4 packs of cans to-go. Even a 2 and 2 option would be great. Would allow folks to even further explore the wide range of styles brewed up here in Branford.

This is great beer, far better than anything else I've tasted in CT so far whilst living here in CT. It's my new spot, I'm going to be here often either drinking off the tap or picking up cans. Truly if you like craft beers and haven't been here yet you need to come on down.

Welcome to Caius Farm Brewery in Branford, CT 🍻 and wow, Connecticut breweries like Caius continue to deliver some of the best beers we've ever tasted. CT is a beer powerhouse 🍺💪 Our favorite beers of the stop were the Cleopatra IPA and closely followed by the Balbilla Kölsch (📸). Caius also doubles as a museum, so be sure to check out the history hung on the walls!

A bit about Caius Farm Brewery:
Founder Caius Mergy fell in love with brewing while studying Classics at Middlebury College and drinking VT beer. His passion grew at Oxford, inspired by local pubs and ancient Roman art. After topping his class at both the Siebel Institute (brewing academy) and Doemens Academy (brewing academy), he founded Caius Farm brewery, merging Roman and German beer influences.

Nice selection of sours, IPAs, stouts and more. Very clean and impressive interior for a new brewery. Love that’s it’s right off 95, duper convenient for a pitstop when driving up and down the coast! Food trucks on Friday nights and weekend days.
