I've been a customer here for almost 20 years and I am really surprised by the recent negative reviews. It took a few weeks longer to get my meat back this year, but it's worth the wait. Meat is packaged well and stuff from the smokehouse is amazing!! People are complaining about it being cash only, but it's been that way for as long as I can remember.

I would never do anything to hurt a small business as I am a small business owner myself. But PLEASE do your research prior to using Wenners for processing.

I had dropped off 3 deer early December first week of rifle. I called this morning (dec 22) at 10ish to check the status of my deer. States he will call back he has customers. I stated no problem. Called again around 1215 they stated deer still not ready. They called my girlfriend at 1230 stated that the deer is ready. I show up to get my deer at 1:15. Took nearly 20 minutes to locate the deer. “They can’t find the slip” Fine. They bring the deer out in a shopping cart. 3 bags small enough to all fit in the child seat of the cart and enough ground to layer the bottom of the cart. Total weight including ground was about 60 lbs for all three deer. 2 deer were at least 100-120 lbs one maybe 75. Now I do realize the general yield for venison is about a third of the weight but we aren’t even in the same ballpark. (My loss). I get to my car and because of dissatisfaction I pulled over to check the bags as I felt that something isn’t right. Sure enough I’m missing backstraps.

I called back and the person on the phone states was it a bad shot? No sir they were all heart and lung shots. I head back and walking in and I hear them shuffling around in the back. The gentleman walks out and goes “they were lying next to one of your bags”. How ironic right? Frozen ROCK SOLID.

Also I’m curious as to what type of freezer system that they have that they called at 1230 and by 1315 all of the meet is frozen SOLID.

Message to Wenners:

1. Hunters don’t want other peoples deer as they cannot be sure how it is processed and cared for prior to making it to your hut.

2. Practice honestly and loyalty towards your customers. This can go a long way for your business. Start by returning phone calls in a reasonable amount of time just as you guys expect your pay on time.

3. Please let your customers know that your Visa card machine is not working prior to their arrival. We don’t want to show up and have to go a few miles to find an ATM. Yes we all like cash better but then advertise cash only! Not everyone has Venmo. And besides it’s more secure to use a visa/debit. People do this for a reason.

4. My business is finished here. Hopefully anyone who is bamboozled in the future to using your service does some research.

Avoid at all cost, took 2 deer here 3months ago & have yet to get them back! Have taken 6 deer elsewhere and got them all back within 2weeks of the drop off date!

Friendly, helpful staff, good communication. Turnaround was within what they stated, and the venison sausage I had made is phenomenal.
