We are very, very disappointed with our purchase from this farm.

What this farm lists as "bantam silkies" appear to be some sort of cross that includes silkie, no doubt, but probably a number of other breeds as well. The three examples in the photos are from an order of 25 pullets that we raised this year. One is a rooster, and the other two are hens. They do not resemble any true silkie that I have crossed paths with. They are twice the size of our real bantam silkies, and do not have much consistency in plumage. The rooster actually looks more like a leghorn or some other white meat bird. They are not silkies in demeanor, either. These are fast, agile, aggressive animals, not the docile "poodles of barnyard" that one expects when buying silkies.

When we bought these birds back in March of 2024, I am pretty sure that the website did not mention that these animals are bred for meat. I am a diligent researcher, and I would not have bought these if they were advertized as meat birds back then. Perhaps they changed their listing recently?

My family feels scammed by this company, since we intended to boost our flock of silkies, and now we are stuck with these birds that we are just going to have to sell as "white chicken - maybe a silkie cross." No one is going to believe that these are real silkies, and I would not want to scam someone the way I got scammed.

Hopefully now that the website clearly says that this is meat chicken bred for size, people will be careful of what they buy. It would be better, though, if the company dropped the name "silkie" from their listing. These are not silkies.

If you are from the company and reading this, please do not respond. I am not attempting to start a conversation or have an argument with you in Google Reviews. You know that you are up to no good, and the best thing for you to do is to change your behavior. It's not up for argument. Thank you.

I order a dozen white silkie hatching eggs from them through freedom ranger farms, eggs arrived perfectly intact and shipped beautifully and quickly. After letting the eggs rest for 24 hours I put 8 in my incubator and 4 under my broody hen. This is my first time ever incubating/hatching eggs so even with possible user error I ended up with a good hatch rate! One egg turned out to be a dud after developing for a week, out of the 4 eggs under my broody hen all of them hatched but the first one did pass almost immediately after hatching, whether from something my hen did or just a fluke. The 7 remaining eggs in the incubator had 5 babies hatch, one needed assistance after being in a bad position and stuck for 2 days and died 2 days later. So as of today we are left with 7 beautiful babies, 5 with 5 toes, 1 with 4 toes and one with 6 toes.

I am very happy with my experience with Blue Banty Farm. Ordering was easy, communication with the owners were helpful and reassuring. For the moment they shipped until I received my chicks was less than 24 hours. They all arrived peeping and are happy healthy chicks. Thank you Blue Banty Farm.

The birds that are selling for at Silkie prices are not Silkies. The bird from this farm do not have the feathers, temperament, coloring, or size of a silkie and they are aggressive and huge. We had a good hatch rate at 10/12 but when I messaged them immediately after hatching to tell them they sent the wrong birds (and these are not silkies but some hybrid barnyard chicken that they are charging Silkie prices), they refused to refund my money. I will never buy from here again.

We ordered 6 eggs previously from another hatchery. Only one egg grew a chick with omphalocele. We ordered a dozen silkies from Blue Banty and have 10 healthy chicks. We’ll be ordering again.

All chicks came diseased and died within two weeks...some on arrival and two or three each day after. Quit walking, eating/drinking, fell over and died within hours. Were given medicine etc, nothing worked. Also gave my adult silkies whatever it was and they died as well. Other types of birds were fine. Contacted hatchery and waited. Didn't hear back for a while so I filed a dispute with my CC company to get it fixed. Finally heard back and they said they would refund me 50% or send me 50% of the chicks. on May 1. It is May 3 and instead of being shipped birds and them fixing it on their end they contacted me and said they would not ship me chicks because I filed a dispute. Not quality chicks sent, not good customer service. Now it is 2 months after they were ordered and my daughters bday present was a waste of time and energy.

Previously we have bought chickens locally. Decided to try mail order. Chicks are so healthy and happy, was expecting a little loss in transit...birds arrived in perfect condition. I could not be happier or more satisfied as a customer. Thank you.
