apparently the old lady that manages this transfer station can charge whatever the heck she feels like charging you. I got nailed for $17.00 for 6 households trash bags. I could of drove all the way to the palmer landfill and got better deal other than finding some abandoned property I can toss it out onto. thanks to crabby ladies like that running services for borough is the reason why Valley is trash.

The two younger gals are pleasant. The old battle axe turned me away one time after the younger one OK'ed me. She said it was "too much volume, volume is what kills us." In actuality it was mostly air: light garbage and a couple grills. I asked if I could only dump half of it then she slammed the window in my face. They don't have a trash compactor so much of the garbage they truck to other sites is air. I guess that's good business for Tew's but it comes at the cost of high property taxes

Post the hours for recycling! As a dump it's pretty good. As a recycling center it s*cks. Why such limited hours? And why locked up? That tells you how much money is tied up in recycling

Overcharging. A short bed pickup with 6 cans and 15 kitchen bags cost us $36 at big lake but the same load at Palmer is only $16. Different agents charging different prices depending on who is working. No consistency at big lake and Palmer weighs your load. It’s almost worth driving to Palmer just to know we aren’t getting ripped off. This has been happening for over 3 years.
