Az Chickens - Waddell, Arizona

I ordered 4 hens from AZ Chickens, advertised as 8–10 weeks old. After waiting since December, I drove 45 minutes each way for pickup. When I arrived, I was given only 2 birds, both much younger than expected (around 5–6 weeks old). After arriving home and taking them out of the box, we were stunned to find them in extremely poor condition — missing most of their feathers, covered in feces, and appeared unwell.

The pickup location wasn’t in Waddell as listed, and the chickens were not anything like the website or Facebook posts. The person there was not the owner or a farmer. He couldn’t provide any answers and offered no resolution other than “I’ll get back to you / I’ll make a note of this”. I spent $160 and received half my order in unacceptable condition. Disappointing overall — I would not recommend based on this experience.

Thank you for the beautiful chicks. I know it’s not the optimal time of year to order chicks in the mail and I was definitely concerned about their trip here. But all 15 chicks are absolutely beautiful and are some of the healthiest robust chicks I have ever ordered. I am more than happy with them. I will definitely be ordering hatching eggs in the spring.

I received part of my order on time, but the quail never came waited two months so far for the six hens that I ordered... Requested a refund for that part of order and they did refund me immediately. I'm going to bring my star up for them just because they did respond and have been conscientious enough to stay in contact with me. Not sure what the delay was on the quail hens but I'm sure there was good reason for the delay. Otherwise they we're very helpful.

I ordered and waited 2 months for the hens and they didn't show up. They offered a explanation for what happened but they were not the guy taking the brunt of the questions and seeing the discust on people's faces. They did give some money back but not enough to pay for fuel and 4hrs lost out of my life. I picked up the birds today and only 3 out of 10 were near the age described. I purchased birds thinking they would be around the current age as I have not so it would be a easy transition. But hey were more around 6 weeks all except for 3. They were in good health but need to be closer to age for the amount people are paying. Bottom line i got what I ordered after a few hiccups. Knowing now that I didn't know then I wouldn't do it again. Buy chicks for cheap and raise them you will be better off. Thanks, George Warren

Purchased four Jumbo Coturnix quail (three females and one male)
Awesome, healthy birds. Birds were as expected and had plenty of energy, even after their journey through the mail. Packaged properly and thoughtfully. This was my first purchase. I definitely will be a repeating customer and would recommend them to anyone. Super happy with my purchase!!!

Also, excellent and helpful communication via the chat on their website.

All around, a wonderful experience.

Ordered 6 chickens, only received two. We were told at the pick-up to contact the “farmer” about the missing chickens and he is not responding. The phone number I have for AZ chickens is now also not responding. These were supposed to be 6-10 weeks old and appear to be around 5 weeks old. The smaller one is missing a lot of feathers. We waited months for these chickens. They are terrified of humans and were delivered covered in poop.

We waited five weeks for our order, and during that time, we were told multiple times that the chickens were ready for pickup. After finally making an hour long trip with our kids—excited and prepared—we were told there were no chickens available and no plan in place. Extremely disappointing experience, especially after all the buildup and poor/no communication

They don’t actually do business in Waddell, the address listed on the website and emails. Pick ups are in Chandler, Gilbert or Tucson. Thought we were buying local, but they’re not even the farmer. We just left our pickup with only 1 of the 4 birds we ordered. They weren’t even present to explain the mistake - left the poor farmer to the long line of disappointed customers with children. We’ll find another vendor next time.
