Love this place! Very helpful and knowledgeable staff who are very kind to answer questions. I had the pleasure of meeting with the owner's wife who told me her husband had passed and she and the staff were still running the place. She cares about the animals. I told her my kids got my bunny there and she offered to get another one like her. I have gone to many rescue places to get another bun, but those rabbits are not as docile or friendly as these. I'm against breeding in general, but for a sweet rabbit, these guys really do a great job. I like to come here to feed all of my pets and the wildlife that are cared for. There is no excuse for sick animals. Those reviews are old. Hoping that the same gentleman is no longer working there. The new staff is great and knowledgeable!

February 23rd was my first stop at Alamo Hay and Grain; although I'd driven by it many hundred times.

The folks working there - two younger men and an older gentleman (who I assume to be the owner) - were extremely courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. I stopped in to purchase chicks and decided to pick up dog and cat food as well as birdseed while there (a one-stop shop, if you will).

One of the younger gentlemen spent nearly 20 minutes with my 3 yr old and I telling us about the variations in foods, whether or not the birdseed spillage below my feeders might sprout and grow, discussing the options in pet food, and highlighting the finer points of chick care and feeding.

When it came to the chicks, the same gentlemen assisted in breed identification and selection. All are - I'm happy to report - healthy, vibrant, and leading a life of ease in my backyard. Also, Alamo's chick brooder was very clean, stocked with food, and had the latest watering system for the chicks ("chicken nipples"). The same could be said of the rabbit cage that is less than 5 feet from the chicks. Food, water, clean, and well stocked.

At checkout, the older gentlemen and I engaged in a discussion about the most efficient feeding and watering techniques for backyard flocks. I've since implemented a few of his suggestions.

To top it all off, when it was discovered that they we're out of bags of pine shavings, the owner shut down the register to assist one of the younger assistance in repackaging the shaving for resale.

Again, the staff was courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. The customer service was excellent. I will frequent Alamo Hay & Grain for my pet needs.

I visit this place often. I recommend it to anyone debating if they are going or not. Very healthy, well cared for animals. Huge selection of pet feed. We got a bunny a few weeks ago. She is so sweet and so good at socializing. I definitely recommend this place.

Alamo Hay and Grain is a few minutes away from our house - thank goodness! It would be a much longer drive to the next closest feed store to get chicken and bird feed. The place has been around for years, and the staff is always helpful. I love to support local small businesses!

Always a great place to go get pet food supplies.. The owner is super kind and her employees really take care of the customers. They load the bags in your car/truck and are always helpful and polite. Nice, old fashioned courtesy and values.

I have been dealing with Alamo Feed for over 10 years. Ever since my husband and I met and he needed parrot seed for his 20 year old Macaw. We have since relocated out of state, but I still buy my seed from Alamo Feed as we do not have a decent supplier where we live. (Wish they'd open a store near us!)
Recently I was in town and ordered my seed. The staff, Ann, in particular, could not have been more helpful or accommodating. Thank you so much! You are the best!

I went to Alamo Hay & Grain a few months ago and saw two baby rabbits in a cage with no food or water and sitting in their own waste. I brought this to the attention of the young man working there. His response was "we keep our animals clean". I suggested that these rabbits needed attention. His response "get out of here" "leave" "leave" "and don't come back" - and he proceeded to point me out the front door. I reported this to PETA at their Oakland office. I don't know if an investigator ever came. Yesterday I walked through and saw the chicks in very poor condition. Their rear ends were horribly pasty and one was almost dead and being dragged by other chicks. When brought to the employee's attention his response was "yeah, I know" - Disgusting! I hope that others will join me in boycotting this place. Nothing this establishment has to offer means anything when those in charge seem too lazy to provide basic needs for these creatures, and are completely void of compassion for them. Who are these people? How hard can it be to provide a clean area, food and water? And furthermore, I'm curious as to what happens to these chicks and bunnies when they don't sell.
