Coco's Cantina Hilo is the second location in East Hawaii- their first location is in Pahoa and Hilo Town was blessed when the owners filled this vacant storefront. The pupu menu is filled with expected appetizers like nachos and hot wings, as well as creative fare like french fries topped with carne asada and chorizo-loaded potato skins. Entree options don't disappoint either. Coco's fajitas are a must- the dish is a show stopper served steaming on a sizzling cast iron platter. Burritos are also a go-to fave, served "wet" with enchilada sauce. We especially enjoy the complimentary warm tortilla chips served with fresh salsa. All items can be ordered for take-out, and we often place an order of chips and salsa to take home with our leftovers. Visit during Happy Hour for discounted drinks and pupus- they have a full bar, including a whole menu of margarita options.

We stopped in here last minute on New Year’s Eve, I believe. They were really helpful with my husbands low carb restrictions and we were so grateful to find nutritious real food after traveling all day. Very, very good and fast. Also, enjoy a funny photo of my husband 😂

Very good food. I went crazy and tried their cheesesteak… from a Mexican restaurant. Needless to say I wasn’t let down. The size of it was smaller than I expected but the fries made up for it as they were very good too. My wife got a burrito bowl and cleaned the plate. It tasted very good. Pricing was very good for what we got.

Services and atmosphere was good. Went there after really good reviews, food was disappointing.

Initially they served warm tortilla chips and salsa, they were good.

But we ordered fish tacos with rice and beans. Rice was cold in all the dishes served. fish also felt reheated, barely warm.

Kids chicken burrito was awful. We went to subway next door to get turkey sandwich for my kid as he barely ate anything (and he is not at all picky, I tried the burrito and it tasted really bad).

My daughter wanted an authentic greasy burrito but we wanted something healthier. This is pretty authentic Mexican without being greasy so it made us all happy. She got a kids meal with a generously sized bean and cheese burrito which she loved. The rice that came with it was a little dry. I got a shrimp burrito bowl and my husband got the Acapulco salad with the fresh catch. They were both good but he definitely won with choosing the fresh catch. They warned me there aren’t many shrimp on the bowl, so they must get complaints, so why don’t they change it? The 3 shrimp tasted good, but I’d definitely get the fresh catch next time.

Restaurant has lovely AC to cool you off from the heat outside. The server was attentive & friendly. She did a great job. The food is just OK, does not have a lot of flavor.

I was told by the waitress the vegetarian quesadilla was good, but it was not.
My sister said she liked the chicken quesadilla when her son had picked up to-go orders.
The wait staff are very nice, and the other lunch dinners seemed to enjoy their meal.

You absolutely have to try the Mexican Burger 🍔. Also, the ribs fall off the bone and are super meaty. The staff is really nice and talkative. It's always kinda chill here. I come here often because of happy hour!

Delicious Acapulco Salad. I loved how it was served in a crispy tortilla shell. Very tasty. Great service. Dinner was served promptly. Reasonably priced.

III years ago, I moved from Cali to Hilo & it was da best decision of my "La Vita Loca", but I gotta' admit I do miss the "Caliente Cuisine"...

I'm not jus' talkin' about "Miami Heat"... I'm talkin' about seducing, sizzling, savory favors...

Imagine my surprise when I casually & curiously "two-stepped" into Da Coco Cantina & found myself in "Margaritaville" ...

Let's begin with the open-space ambiance where the "waiting area" tempts you into da cocktail lounge hosted by a seasoned "Barista"... & I'm not talkin' about a "frappuccino"... these are real blended, shaken, & stirred drinks!

If you have any, "Faith in La Vita", then have faith in Da Coco Cantina Crew (DCCC)... they will guide your platte into an "Endless Summer"...

My Faith took me towards a Jalapeño Margarita, a splash of Hawaiian Ono, accompanied with tres amigos soft-taco carnitas... all the flavors well balanced, the carnitas juicy and tender, and healthy hearty portions...

Walking out, I saw a sign "off the wall", I did a "double-take"... #Espresso_Martini ? Now that's got me curious about their desserts...

Oh, Coco Cantina... you've got a way to entice da locals to get a little Coco loco...

We popped into this cantina on our way to the downtown post office and the best thing about it was the service. Alex at the bar was awesome and makes a mean margarita. Nice open space, bigger than it looks from the outside. Nice happy hour menu. We ordered the carne asada fries and the ceviche and both were okay. We will go back to check out more of the menu.
