My Family has been raising pure bread black angus cows in Union County for over 75 years we started using Norwood after always using Monroe to sell our livestock because the prices were so much better.

We started using the UC livestock auction simply because it was more convenient and we were assured by the owner that new buyers were being brought in so compensation for our animals would be the same

On December 11th I sold a couple beautiful black angus calf’s 1 brought decent the other one 410lbs bull calf was bid up to $1.69 a pound then rushed out of the arena. Then as before the deal making began between the buyers just like the 90s

The guy along with the auctioneer decided they didn’t want to buy the calf for that and decided $1.25 per pound was what they would pay

After confronting the owner and the auctioneer it’s very apparent they don’t care about local farmers they have no issues stealing their profits.

Never again for my family I will sell in Norwood from now on

Do not use UC livestock sale despite the owners assurance that if your not satisfied she will make sure your happy. She will not

I rate the sale a 5 love the graded goat and sheep sales and also the yearly bull sale and the weekly cow sale but the only thing I wish they would work on is the timing of the graded goat and sheep sale it always starts at least thirty minutes late but other than that it’s awsome

They go above and beyond. My only complaint is that the auction is outside due to COVID which normally might be an even better option but my husband is disabled and we couldn't get close enough to see anything. It needs to be more handicap friendly.

Loved being apart of the Union court livestock sale for many years as a large livestock growers of multiple nations of livestock I’ve always thought of them being the most convenient place to sale my livestock. As I and others came into the office tonight this is honestly the most backward sales and accounting I’ve ever seen time after time again. And don’t worry you won’t get a policy change nor will they let you know ahead of time. On behalf of the auctioneer he is very good at what he does and maintains the best he can at all times. On the other hand then comes the office and data entry staff who not only have terrible attitudes when simply trying to receive payment your also not allowed to pick up bought livestock that has been purchased until the end of the auction. I myself who has over 150 head of goats and have tried to maintain composure with the staff over and over I simply will not stand for delay of payment from honestly the only sale of this I’ve been to (and I’ve been to many in and out of state) this operation does not have data entry at time of purchase causing multiple upon multiple delays. No other sale in the vicinity does this. I watched countless people utter the words ā€œthis is the last I come back hereā€ as sometimes depending on the amount of head of livestock being sold that evening it can take many hours to be able to load your purchased livestock as the accounting system once again is about as screwed up as it can get. So I had my peace and kept it long enough and stated to the staff upon calling getting a different answer than from when I was there to pick up my check just too see what would be said is as follows ā€œwe will be mailing the checksā€ but upon arrival to obtain my check like every other time I was told ā€œno checks will be written until the sale has completedā€ so that’s all I needed to hear as a personal friend of our current NC dept of agriculture commissioner & father who also sits on the NC Board of Agriculture it seems apartment that ā€œsometimes when you try to support your local business and see the violations you turn a blind eyeā€ but this time that will not be the case. They fail to realize under the USDA Packers & Stockyard Act aka (P&S) act only payment upon sold livestock can be deferred at a time a time of when the company has not received payment or has prior non payment history of a client on occasion, or refuses payment for the reasonable need to address safety concerns of an animals well-being. This also goes for obtaining bought livestock at the time of payment. Please know that the fees are also extremely higher which is because this is a graded sale and many times you will walk away like so many others shaking your head at the fees in which you will go through opting to take your livestock here for sale. If you want efficient accounting and prompt service with a smile I would suggest Darlington SC which is express service and easily a drive from this markets location. Or if you’d also like more than prompt service and individual sales of goats besides multiple pin sales I’d suggest both Darlington as well as silver city. And you can walk out with your check the moment your goats are sold as well as pick up your bought livestock as soon as you’ve bought what you’ve wanted and can Immediately load from that point. Once a loyal and happy customer of this establishment it’s now apparent.

P.S: Don’t be on time as that’s also a joke they use to be prompt and now it’s worse than anything I’ve seen and attempting to understand the ways of this constantly changing and upsetting company.
