This post is principally for serious garlic aficionados — visits are by appointment only, and the actual growing field(s) are elsewhere in Sherborn. I met up with the owner, Grisha Maziya, in one of the fields to see the current crop of organic heirloom “Music” varietal garlic being harvested. He sells his production mostly to restaurants, farm stands, and parties looking for seed garlic to grow. Individuals can also purchase garlic, but call ahead because it’s a boutique operation. I bought a 6 pound bag of fresh picked garlic that will now need to air dry for a month before use — the curing period is necessary for the garlic to reach its full flavor. If you don’t have the time or interest to do a special visit their garlic is sold at the Ashland Farmers Market at one of the organic produce stands.

I pick up a fairly good amount of garlic scapes each year from here. Grisha is always fantastic about communicating the harvest with me. They’re the best around! You can tell he and his family take such good care of the crops and make the best product out there.
