In early August, we visited Seward and went on the Marathon Bowl Hike with Seward Wilderness Collective. Chris met us at the office and checked on all our gear to make sure we were prepared for the hike. He also gave us our lunches and snacks to carry. Our group of 4 adults and 2 kids (9 and 11) was ready to go! Chris was engaging and knowledgeable throughout the hike. Between talking with the kids about their interests and discussing climate-related books with the adults, Chris easily connected with us all. We hiked up the steep jeep trail and stopped for a delicious lunch next to a river. The rest of the hike was mostly uphill but between learning about the terrain, weather, and flora and fauna, it seemed we were up to the Marathon Bowl in no time. Once at the overlook, we stopped for some surprise hot chocolate, tea and delicious granola bars. We spent some time reflecting, writing haiku poems and just taking in the stunning views. Chris' knowledge of the land, the effect of the warming climate on the area, as well as the plants and animals we saw along the way greatly enhanced our hiking experience. When we finally made it back to the office, we had hiked a total of 6 miles and enjoyed every minute. If you want to both see incredible views as well as learn about how Alaska is faring with climate change, Seward Wilderness Collective is the company to hike with!

Yesterday we did a guided hike through the rain forest to Resurrection Bay. What an enjoyable experience! Our guide's (Chris) knowledge and appreciation of nature and the outdoors made our hike so memorable. Another guide (Zipporah) came along and doubled our fun and learning. We even had a provided snack stop with such wonderful conversation. I highly recommend Seward Wilderness Collective.

Hiking Exit Glacier and Harding Ice Field with SWC guide Chris was incredible! What a beautiful national park so close to Seward, and what an easy way to see and learn about something that may soon become the stuff of legend, glaciers. Chris was informative and engaging as we made our way through trees, infographics, and wildlife on our way to the Exit Glacier. We saw FIVE MOOSE! With great weather, we were able to trek all the way to the Harding Ice Fields which was truly an unbelievable sight. SWC guide Chris assisted us and accentuated our experience with his local knowledge the entire way up and back. As a first time visitor to Alaska, this was exactly the sort of guided experience I was looking for. I would definitely recommend and reach out to SWC again.

My siblings and I visited Seward in August and wanted to hike, but were concerned about encountering bears, so we booked a hike with a tour guide. I'm so grateful we did because Chris made our hike so much fun and informational in addition to educating us about how to stay safe from bears. I would highly recommend booking a hike with this company.

Our whole family LOVES participating in the SWC Farmer's Market. Its a great opportunity to come together as a community and has a very tight knit feel. Summers can be hectic in Alaska, but this market is a touchstone to our community and the great people that call this place home.

What an incredible organization! We did the Exit Glacier hike with Chris and were blown away by how much a guide could add to the experience. Learning about the glacier and how climate has impacted it has left a lasting impression. We left feeling inspired and absolutely awed by the landscape.

And we learned that these are the same folks behind the awesome Seward farmers market we got to check out while on our trip! We picked up some great, truly local, gifts to bring home. Super cool that this group does so much in the Seward community!
