If I could give negative stars I would! They knowingly adopted a horse out to me that belonged to someone else. They owner Betina told me that the horse must pass brand inspection, see the farrier, get vet checked, and have all her vaccinations before I could take her to her new home, and she informed me that the adoption fee plus the extra $150 admin fees covered this… I waited for almost a month for her to be cleared, but not one thing was completed. I was informed the brand inspector came out, and that there was a previous owner on her brand inspection, but I didn’t need to worry that they were signing the horse over to them. All at once, the owner told me that “the board” informed her that I had to get her out of there immediately, that they could not wait until she seen the vet or got vaccinated. They informed me that if I didn’t that I would have to pay them to board her and train her until the vet got out there. I told them I had a great trainer and at a very nice facility waiting that I had already paid for, I informed them that I did not want to take her without her vaccinations and brand inspection paperwork, and the owner took it upon herself to call my boarding facility to ask the owner (someone that she knew) if it was ok if she sent the horse to them without Vaccinations? * the horse was never vet checked, never vaccinated, never seen a farrier or anything , and she sent the horse to the boarding facility while I was at work. I kept asking where her brand inspection paperwork was, and I was told each time the boarding facility had it (which they didn’t) or it was in the mail. I also kept asking what was wrong with her knew because it was swollen now, and the owner of the rescue basically told I was seeing things. A month and half passed and I still never received the brand inspection paperwork, and I only heard excuses from the rescue when I asked about it, I called the brand inspectors in broomfield, to ask about the brand inspection, and they had no idea what I was talking about. They informed me that they had never been called out there to inspect the horse, and it was most likely because the rescue new it could not be adopted out without the owner signing it over (which they didn’t). They also informed me that this facility is notorious for adopting out horses, keeping their name on the brand inspection as co owners, then after a couple yrs down the road, after the adopter put thousands of $$ out for training, and boarding, they say it has not been taken care of and / or neglected, and go confiscate the horse, and adopt it out to someone new. Which the owner did have a couple of “returns” when I was there. The brand inspector recommended that I took it back since it did not legally belong to me, so I took the horse back. I started to receive non stop guilt trip text messages and voice messages, at all hours of the day and night from the owner, then when I would not answer her she dragged my name through the mud, she posted on several Facebook groups, so many negative things about me that were not true! She was telling people how I adopted out this perfectly good horse from them, and how I dropped it off on them with an injured leg (the leg that they told me that was nothing wrong with) and how I refused to give it the medical attention it needed, and I let her suffer in pain and how they were going to hold me accountable for my actions, etc. I was out thousands of dollars for boarding,
and training by this time, and the brand inspector
informed me to not put any more money out for it, that it was not my responsibility because it did not belong to me. They recommended that I took the rescue to small claims court, to get reimbursed for all the money that I lost on a horse that they knew could not be legally adopt out. I never did, I just wanted that nightmare over with… I would never ever recommend this place to anyone, it’s extremely shady. If you need a second opinion, or names of reputable rescues, contact the brand inspectors they work with them all the time.

The people who run this have the kindest hearts. Fun and meaningful place to volunteer, and they brought in interesting presenters sometimes to learn from. Adopted a warmblood horse from here, would have adopted more of them if it were feasible with finances and time outside of work. Recommend this place as a local horse rescue who partners with the ASPCA (last I knew, anyway).
