The Denali Princess Lodge is well spread out but Wow ❣️ we ate here at Fannie Q's Saloon the second night of our Denali Alaska tour. Wow everything was phenomenal from the hostess, the drinks, and the food. Mom and I split the ribeye sandwich and the salmon burger. Both were amazing tasting hot and fresh ❣️ We really enjoyed the gentleman playing the old up right piano. And look up at all the racks hanging from the ceiling what a great night of laughter and jokes with friends and family. Don't forget to read about Fanny Q a very interesting woman ❣️

The food was delicious. The pork was extremely tender. Really good flavor! It was not like I had before. Both of my kids said what they had was very good also. We all had the Lava cake with Huckleberry ice cream. Delicious.

Our server paid way more attention to the table that came in after us. We had to catch him for a drink refill. He got several for them. He got their dessert orders and still ignored us. We caught him to get a dessert, and they were done and leaving before we even got ours. We had to get to an excursion, and prompt service would have been great.

This buffet was truly a feast of delectable items, with something for everyone. The service was friendly and efficient. We could give more stars if we liked the way that some of what we chose to eat was cooked better.

Fruit was grapes (a little sour), oranges, apples, and I was thankful for the bananas, which were not over ripe & which we like. Oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, and scrambled eggs were available. We did not eat the oatmeal, but the biscuits were dry and needed the gravy which was good. The scrambled eggs were over cooked and the last in the pan. Bacon and pork sausage were good, and we did not try the caribou sausage.

Pancakes looked good, and several syrups and toppings were offered. Three types of cereal were offered near the plain yogurt with cut up melons. At least two types of bread were available for toasting, and we liked the sourdough bread.

The place is very nice and we liked the decor. If we try it for dinner, I’ll edit this review or add another.

Fanny Quigley was an American pioneer, prospector and cook during the Klondike Gold Rush. She lived in the wilderness of what is now Denali National Park and Preserve. The restaurant was ordinary, they just added a name! We arrived during prime time, had to sit on high chairs at the bar but all worked out since we didn’t have to wait long. The menu could’ve been more eclectic but was very American traditional; cheesesteak sando, friend chicken sando, cobb salad of course what’s Alaska without fresh fish! There is a full bar and entertainment which was finishing up when we got there. They do have outdoor firepit but it was gas, you can smell it which gave me a minor headache. The service was good, food mediocre, interior nicely decorated, entertainment fun for the last 5 mins.
I only wish the food was traditional – sourdough, beans, pierogi with the Russian migration. Etc etc…

I just left Fanny Q’s after the worst service experience I’ve had in a long time from the manager, Sally. I was at Fanny’s with 2 friends, getting drinks and playing cards. The bar was full the entire time we were there so we grabbed a small high top table inside. We were on our second round of craft cocktails, after sharing an appetizer and ordering another drink when manager, Sally came up to our table and said “by the way this is a *dining* table and so are you planning to dine or not?” In an extremely condescending way(our tab was $120 already with another round of drinks on the way). She then said she had a train of people coming in and basically told us to leave or go sit on the “heated” patio. It’s 45° and no one was sitting on the patio so you can imagine how well “heated” it was. It was extremely disrespectful the way Sally approached us and told us we need to leave, as if we were idiots. On a positive note, the Tatchos and our server, Jenna, were absolutely delightful. I’d recommend avoiding Fanny Q’s based on management alone. Service and food was good. Overall APPALLED by the tone and approach of Sally. We would have been very happy to move had she asked us in a kind way.
